great haircut!
by elsereph
I've been going to Sara Matts for my haircuts at Toni and Guy in Newport Beach for some time now. She never fails to give me a consistent haircut and great customer service every time. She recently left Toni and Guy and is now at Gods and Heros located in Costa Mesa close to South Coast Plaza. I am more than happy to follow her. 714 557 1691.
- Pros: great service
BEST STYLIST IN NEWPORT
by ashweed1116
If anyone is looking for someone that is wonderful at doing curly/ wavy hair, or thick hair... I went to ashleigh at Toni and Guy in Fashion Island. Then I went back but she wasnt there. I had another stylist but they didnt listen and cut my hair so it was frizzy my cut was horrible. I couldnt find her until I drove down PCH and saw her name on a sign in the window of Jack Winn Salon. It was the best haircut I ever got! She also did a smoothing treatment on my hair that made it so much easier for me to blowdry straight. I cant tell you how happy I am with her! My life is so much easier and less stressful!!

London-based international salon offers full range of hair care and fashion-conscious styling. Product lines include Bedhead and Catwalk.
Don't go there or you'll be disappointed...terrible haircutters and front desk
by Vio
T& G is an ordinary place in a chic mall to attract the Newport Beach crowd. I had the worse haircut and the front dest attitude I have ever seen in service oriented business. DO NOT GO THERE...
- Cons: inexperienced haircutters, terrible attitudes, VERY expensive for a lousy haircut
Worst Haircut I Have EVER Had!
by kimethansmith
Never go to Eric at Toni and Guy. He screwed my hair up so badly. I had to leave and go straight to another hairdresser to have ti fixed. So I was out the money for both haircuts. Just to fix the cut that Eric did, they had to cut my hair about 4 inches. They just keep telling me now that I will have to grow it out for the next year to get it back to normal. Do not go to Toni and Guy!
- Pros: the assistants were the nicest people there
- Cons: bad haircut, rude hairdresser, EXPENSIVE
best color ever!!!
by hairgrrrl
sandy does the best blond highlites ever, close to the root, bright, and pretty. even after having a baby she is at the top of her "hair" game and is an inspiration to me, amber troxel, her friend & co-worker.
- Pros: open 7 days a week
Best haircut I have ever gotten. Period.

I absolutely love Toni & Guy in Newport, but it's probably just because of the person who did my hair. His name was Alex and he did a great job- everything I wanted and more. I had a certain way I wanted my hair to look, but he made it look even better. I will definitely keep seeing this stylist. He is only a level one, but if I can get this good of a haircut at level 1 there is no point in going any higher. Plus, the higher level haircuts are way too expensive, and I don't believe in any haircut being worth 100 or more. For $52, I got my hair cut beautifully, blowdried and straightened. The receptionists were very nice, but maybe I just came at the right time. I am definitely going to go back to this guy, I have literally NEVER gotten a haircut this good. Love it.
- Pros: Great stylist, very friendly staff, clean salon
- Cons: Stylist wasn't very gentle when brushing my hair
Not the best experience
by peachis25
Similar to other reviewers, my hair was over processed and after the assistant washed it, I would run my fingers gently through my hair and hair just melted off. I tried Sandy, Amber and Shelly and specifically said if they were to run bleach all the way to my ends over hair that's already bleached instead of just touching up the roots, it would cause a lot of damage. All three stylists assured me that won't happen, but each time my hair melted off. There are many ways to pump up blond color, but it requires experience, knowledge, training, time and most importantly listening skills. If you want super bright blond, bleaching over and over actually takes away depth and gives a dull white appearance once hair is damaged.
As far as the hair cuts at this salon, I tried Kristi & Tab. Kristi's haircut left the front pieces long, had layers that didn't do anything for my fine hair and then thinned out my bangs, but once it grew out and I slightly trimmed the front pieces, it looked a lot better. Tab's haircut basically left my hair looking as if someone cut it in a straight line and cut my bangs too short.
T&G likes to do wispy layers, thin hair out and leave front pieces really long. It looks cool on the right person but It's not always versatile or appropriate for different lifestyles or hair types. If going to a corporate event or a wedding, spiky messy hair just doesn't work. I also absolutely hate their hair products, which probably work better on thicker textures, but on finer hair, they simply weigh down my hair and it takes a week for my hair to go back to its normal texture because of all the heavy conditioning. I love kerastase, a high end line that is really amazing, but not available at this salon. After going to this salon for two years and having tried multiple stylists, I have changed salons
Haley is great
by sydneyjae
I've been getting my hair cut by Haley for a two or three years now. She's super nice, always on time (from my experience), and does a fantastic job. The best part is the scalp massage. Haley (I hope I'm spelling that right!) is one of the creative directors (or whatever they call it), so the haircut is rather expensive (just over $100, including a 20% tip), but I think it's well worth it. (Better than paying $400 in Los Angeles!)
Don't waste your time
by ambennis
I called to make an appointment and twice they called me back saying they had to change my appointment time because the stylist had 1) a wedding to do and 2) wasn't going to be in the day of my appointment (which was a Saturday). When I called back the second time they said that she doesn't come in on the weekends! Why was I given two appointments with her on Saturdays when she isn't even scheduled to be in on the weekends? The receptionist gave me the usual "we don't believe in customer service" attitude and just hung up.
