The Fairmont Newport Beach has been remodeled and is LOVELY with Great Service, Spa and Food

by sdgal07

Having visited the hotel on two occasions this year alone, I can honestly say that this is one of the finest hotels in Newport Beach. After spending more than $30 million on a complete remodel, the hotel now has amazing guest rooms that offer luxurious beds, high-quality linens and flat screen TVs. The hotel also offers a new Willow Stream Spa, a fully equipped fitness center and a great pool deck covered with palm trees and bright yellow cabanas with flat screen TVs and WiFi that you can reserve for the day at an affordable price. Also, at the bambu Restaurant, I enjoyed one the best Sunday Brunch that I've had in years. The entire staff is great, very friendly, capable and eager to help. I love the attention they pay to children with their toy trolley and the concierge staff was "spot on" with recommendations for things to do in the area. Also, the complimentary shuttle to Fashion Island, South Coast Plaza and Balboa Island was indispensable.

We also love the close proximity to the airport and all other local attractions.

When we travel to the OC, we always stay at the Fairmont Newport Beach, and I would recommend that you do the same.

  • Pros: Great Service, food, pool, spa
  • Cons: None to mention

Poor quality/horrible service.

by MSulli5402

Not a luxury hotel by any standard - I understand from the staff that there is new ownership and they are dramatically cutting costs. It shows - it was probably a nice hotel ten years ago, but today it is motel six with better bones. No service - call room service and if they answer at all, will deliver the wrong order an hour later. Front desk personnel shouldn't be hired to work at MacDonald's! It is pretty bad. It is just your basic airport hotel.

  • Pros: airport location
  • Cons: service, airport noise, run down

A French-influenced hotel between the coast and John Wayne Airport.

by Contributor

The Scene
Formerly Le Meridien, this behemoth might remind you of a cruise ship come ashore. It has maintained its French essence, albeit with a healthy infusion of casual California style. Featuring peaceful marina views, the property is one of the most sociable hotels in Orange County, with a calendar of festive food and beverage events, such as its popular Bastille Day celebration.

The Details
Rooms are spacious and could best be described as truly California contemporary, with overstuffed furnishings and pastel hues from floor to ceiling. The airy lobby, with its atrium cafe, features fountains, fresh flower arrangements and modern-art pieces, is always bustling, partly due to its proximity to the John Wayne Airport.
