10 girlfriends and I went to this place for our annual holiday get-together. When the women on our side of the table ordered our entrees, including filet mignon, pasta, and fish, the waiter responded, "Would you like house or Caesar salad?" Surprised that a salad came with the entree, I responded, "Caesar, please." I don't normally order salads at restaurants, as I don't like to pay for cold food that I can make at home. When the food arrived, the waiter had charged us all $8 each per salad. Incredulous, I told the waiter, "None of the women on this side of the table had any idea that these weren't part of the meal." His response: "I'll get the manager." Interesting. Instead of saying, "I'm sorry, I believe I said, 'Would you like to ADD a salad" - he says, "Let me get the manager." Let me preface all of this by saying that this waiter had spent at least 15 minutes of his time taking numerous photos of our table, insisting on different poses and taking oodles of time flirting with mothers, mostly in their late thirties and forties. I realized immediately that this was all to disguise his "padding" the bill. The manager came over and heard my objection. His response: "Did you read the menu?' As if to say, "If you had read the salad section of the menu, you would have seen that we charge for salads." I, of course, no dummy, say, "That's nice. I don't EVER read the salad section - that's not what I'm here for. I did not order a salad - the waiter offered me one. I don't like the sneakiness of it, and I'm not paying for my salad." Instead of apologizing for the miscommunication, and eating the $2 cost of the whole table's salads, the manager actually argued with me. I couldn't remember why I insisted on ONLY going to restaurants in Laguna Beach, but now I remember. Laguna Beach restaurants don't treat their customers like idiots. DO NOT GO TO OPHAH'S! They are sneaky, dishonest, and the food is mediocre.

This is best place to eat! Atmosphere, the food, and service are excellent. I have taken lots of friends and family their and couldnt stop the compliments. The food looks like artwork, tastes so good, and they are very attentive to your needs.
Pros: Food, location, service, atmosphere, everything
Cons: wish they had more outdoor space, but it great the way it is

Fantastic, Great food , I recommend strongly the Opah entree. Great presentation , good quality, and decent price. You may want to try the chocalate rimmed martini , "Expesso Martini". as your finale . Also look for James a waiter at Opah , Gauranteed great service .

Love the stylish decor and great drinks and martinis. The food is pretty average to above-average and is, as many other reviewers have stated, somewhat overpriced. But if you're looking for a hip spot to grab a drink with friends in South OC, this is definitely a great spot.
Pros: Fun atmosphere and great drinks.
Cons: Overpriced and pretty average food.

I don't want to totally skewer this place--they are certainly trying for a commendable feel to their eatery--but it seems like they might be trying too hard to make the food pretty while neglecting the taste aspect. Also, the presentation factor, with all the "exotic" ingredients and everything...every dish is worth--at most--about 2/3 of the price that they charge you for it. Oh, and don't be fooled by the sweet potato chips--they REALLY suck. If you don't mind overpaying--and I know that most people in Orange County are perfectly happy overpaying for anything and everything--the tuna and ahi are excellent (actually, the less something is cooked at Opah, the more you will enjoy it--that, I guarantee), and the seafood in general is great. Try Opah at least once to see if it is your kind of thing.
Pros: decent food, decent location, decent concept
Cons: $-$$ food, $$$ price., horrendous service, not a great value

I would recommend this place over Sutra times 10! It is quite a busy, fun, noisy place where you can easily find people to talk to...and the location gets rid of the posers, most of the people are real and fun. The food is great, and the drinks are amazing. The staff treats you well. The only downsides are that they do crowd the tables together, it is hard to find close parking, sometimes the guys can get gross, and if you're into a quiet dinner, this is not the place to go on the weekends. I liked going there with my husband and enjoy the great food on one of the quiet nights.
Pros: wonderful drinks, great food, beautiful decor
Cons: can get crowded, difficult parking

Food is average. The decoration is hip, trendy, lively and well-designed. Here is a restaurant for fun, where you see pretty ladies eating and hanging out?? hanging out?? And guys too... eating and hanging out.... It feel like a "Hollywood" thing in a sub-urban neigherhood, where guys talking louds and acting cool for the ladies crowd. I guess it works, as the owner is smart even to bring this ideas to this quiet area.
Pros: happy crowd., pretty ladies., drinks.
Cons: food., too crowded.

This place is nothing special. I can cook as good or better, at home. Enormous portions don't make the food taste any better. Loads of garlic can't change a bland dish, it just makes you smelly and thirsty.
