Waiting a whileto get my hair washed, too crowded

by ericsmith74 at Citysearch

Nice Salon! It was too crowded in the locker room and there was a lot of small talk amongst the stylist. The manicure/pedicure is way over priced for what you get and there is no seating available in the waiting area. Tip: Consider less stations and more seating space for the clients to relax. Though my stylist was great I feel she pressured me into buying products I don't want.

His new favorite.

No man will admit that he loves this place. But my husband never argues with me anymore when I tell him he needs a haircut! Its a tad pricey compared to other places but it is well worth it!

WORST PLACE EVER

by RHHawk at Citysearch

NEVER GO HERE!!!. I went to a stylist for years until I was given a tip of a great barber who does hundred times better for 1/3 the price. I had been hearing a few things about Metro for Men and thought I would give it a try. Not only were they cold upon my arrival, but the so-called stylist did not listen to anything I had to say and cut my hair so short that it looked like 3 year old's experiment with scissors on a Barbie doll. This is absolutely the worst hair experience of my life.

  • Pros: TV's
  • Cons: Terrible service, horrific cut

OK...now I get it.

by Frank T at Citysearch

I could never figure out why on earth someone would pay more than $20 for a haircut...that is until today. I am heading out of town this weekend, and I called my normal cheapocuts girl to see if I could get a trim before I left, and to my dismay, she was on vacation. I started poking around to see what others were suggesting about a decent place to get a haircut. When I came across Metro For Men, the $37 seemed pretty steep to me at first (I never paid more than $20 before), but after reading the reviews I decided to give it a shot and see how things shake out. I called them up, and Krista (the owner) answered the phone herself. I knew after our conversation that this was someone I would feel very comfortable with...someone who understands customer service. And boy was I right. TOTALLY worth the money! I am officially converted! Lauren is the stylist that did my cut, and she did an amazing job. Really couldnt be happier. They took their time discussing my hairline, the type of cut that would work for me, and explaining why. Really put me at ease. It ended up being completely different than what I was expecting to walk out with, but a MUCH better cut for my hairline. Absolutely worth giving a shot. HIGHLY recommended! Great job Lauren! See you next month.

New Twist on Everything!

by MonsieurFang at Citysearch

I really hope that previous reviewer gets a better experience next time. Rarely do I ever have a good experience at a barbershop or salon. Maybe it's my weird shaped head or straight hair that throws most stylists off half the time. The first time I came here, I was a little intimidated by the name of the place "Metro". Yeah....but boy am I glad I made that a appointment! I made an appointment on a Sat. afternoon, and they took me the same day. Once inside, I was immediately impressed as I saw a nice shoe shine area ( I can be old fashioned some times ). The place is richly decorated, with a nice lounge area with leather clubchairs for waiting and relaxing. All I needed was a whiskey in hand. My stylist took extra time just to study my hair since it was my first cut with them. My haircut took almost an hour and I loved it! The best thing I like about this place is the changing area. After a haircut, you can cleanup more as there is a sink and benches.

  • Pros: decor. service. everything!
  • Cons: can get a little busy. just be sure to make an appt!

Not all that they claim!

by ECB1979 at Citysearch

I recently moved to Orange County and was looking for a hair stylist in an a nice setting and found what I thought would be ideal in MFM. As I was coldly greeted with a insincere smile, I was handed a clipboard and was asked to complete a personal customer information card. After spending 5 minutes on the survey, I waited for an additional 15 minutes for my stylist. I was never offered anything from the bar by either the "hostess" or my stylist despite the mini fridge being clearly visible next to where I was sitting (nor was there a sign to help oneself. Next was the awkward conversation with my hair stylist who cut my hair WAY shorter than asked. Giving the benefit of the doubt about us both being new to each other, I scheduled a second appointment. When it came time I was given a courtesy call for my appointment with a different stylist so I had to rebook AGAIN. When the day of my appointment came around again I received the customary courtesy call for another stylist AGAIN. How incompetent can the staff be? If you "at metro, you speak male, think male, know male!" then you need to step up your client services, hire friendlier, better looking, intelligent and more personable staff - the only time I will speak of this place to my friends is to tell them never venture here.

Great Place for Men, But I Recommend It With Caution

by onsan at Citysearch

Metro is for men caters to all the male senses from its upscale locker room to its array of LCD TVs at every station. First thing they do is offer you a cold beer, or soda if you prefer; and the magazine stand is well stocked with Maxim, Sport Compact Cars and zero copies of Cosmopolitan. The professionals are trained to cut men's hair specifically and you can tell the difference from the tools and techniques used.

My first experience at Metro was great, I left with a haircut I was really happy with and I felt catered to. My second was the complete opposite, this is why I say the people will vary. It's important to note that while a salon is a name and they try to provide a uniform experience regardless of who works with you, they cannot control individuality.

In this review I specifically suggest that if you take a whirl at Metro for Men, please avoid Jimmy. Jimmy, though a mildly pleasant person did not personify any of the great attributes I'd associated with the Metro for Men way. From the shampoo to the send off, it was an impersonal experience. There was a distinct exhibition of lack of effort and enthusiasm for his work. The initial shampoo was lackluster and could be described as an almost lather then rinse. The cut was less than what I asked for and when I walked out the door it felt like a bad business deal. Perhaps I should've said something but I was so confused by the poor showmanship I didn't realize what I'd lost until I got home.

This contrasts greatly with my first experience with Cecilia which was top-notch. A real lathering shampoo that worked its way into my scalp, not just the once over and rinse. She inquired about what I was looking for in a hairstyle, made suggestions and helped me find my way a little. The cut was full of texture, layer and you never lost the feeling that she was working towards making it better for her client.

Perhaps mine is an isolated experience but my cut with Jimmy is known as "the $35 bowl cut."

  • Pros: Man's atmosphere, LCD TVs, Beer, courteous
  • Cons: An investment to find the right stylist.

Unabashed men get pampered with haircuts, scalp massages, manicures, shaves, waxing and shoe shines while watching TV and guzzling beer.

More than a haircut...

by dml_oc at Citysearch

I was skeptical about paying more than $10 for a haircut...but this place is worth every penny. From the moment I walked in the door, to the minute I left, the service was excellent and the staff gorgeous. When I arrived, I was promptly offered a beverage (beer, wine, water, soda, coffee, etc) before being escorted by my lovely stylist to her chair where I was able to enjoy my beer while watching football.

My stylist, Anna (highly recommend), not only gave me a great haircut, but also a great experience. I used cringe when thinking about my monthly trip to Supercuts, but now look forward to my next appointment at Metro. Where else can I talk football and drink beer with a such a great group of beautiful young woman?

  • Pros: beautiful people, great service, wonderful atomosphere

best men's salon

by capt601 at Citysearch

for the best haircut, shoe shine, and manicure, metro For Men is highly recommended in my book. Stop going to "supercuts" and getting a haircut by a rookie. and what can be worse than drinking a beer, or glass of wine, while getting your haircut? great customer service and everyone in the place is very friendly.

  • Pros: customer service, beautiful staff, beverages while you get haircut
  • Cons: none
