Nice

The Spectrum can be a bit on the boring side if it's a regular hang out for you. There's a lot of shops at the Spectrum, and if you don't mind walking aimlessly around the whole place you'll like it. It's great how it features a ferris wheel, carousel, and also a comedy club and movie theater (a very big one too!). There's always something for almost everyone that goes to the Spectrum.

Watch out for valet!

by lovemy3

Had my car towed from here. I made a simple mistake and forgot to leave the key. But the Valet Manager let my children and I walk away knowing that he did not have the key and didnt say a word. Other valet services are nice and ask the driver for the key. They had a car just like mine parked in front, but towed mine. After speaking to people about this, I was told that this happens often there and cant help but to wonder if there is a monetary gain in it for them. I called the tow company and asked them what they charge to tow from that valet, they wouldn't tell me, but apparently have a contract with them. They charged me $60 to get my car back. There are many other shopping centers nearby that I have never encounter a problem with and treat customers with more respect than this...and have better shopping. I would spend my money at south coast and fashion island instead.

Nice Outdoor Mall

by apple1jam

Much better now that that have added more parking structures. Nice selection of stores but it is a walk if you need to go to the other side of the Spectrum.

  • Pros: Nice outdoor place to walk around

Meh

by cambird

As compared to the Block at Orange, the Grove in L.A., or many other outdoor shopping malls I've visited in the U.S., the Spectrum is only marginal. Yes, it's growing and it's attracting great stores like Anthropologie and G&M, but still, it's way too chain-y and there definitely aren't enough fine eateries.

This Orange County complex is a one-stop spot for shopping, dining and entertainment options.

by Nancy Hunter

In Short
This outdoor shopping, dining and entertainment complex features 13th-century Spanish architecture and spouting fountains. In addition to a wide array of clothing and gift stores, the megaplex also houses the Edwards Irvine Spectrum 21 Cinema, the Improv Comedy Club and the Crazy Horse Nightclub. Families flock to the malls two main attractions: the 108-foot Giant Wheel ($2/ride) and the classic carousel ($1/ride).
