Only legit mexican restaurant around + great margaritas!
by revfood
I've lived in and around Orange County for 10 years and somehow I had never been to Tortilla Jo's until last week. It really is the only legit mexican restaurant around and it was REALLY nice to be able to have a great ice-cold margarita after a long day with the fam at Disneyland! My husband and I are going back with friends soon just to have drinks and food at the bar.
- Pros: Really good food, great place for adults and kids.
- Cons: None yet.

by kirby7071

I was married Sept 29. Oct 2 was my 2nd day in Disneyland. At about 8 pm we were told it would take a lil while for them to seat a party of five. We were seated at approximately 25 minutes later. We sat, ordered margaritas, and food 10 min later. Our drinks came timely but our food ticket took awhile. Our server came over and apologized. As a service person I respected that. She informed us that the ticket was lost but food was coming right up next. The manager of the restaurant then came to our table and comped us our meal. He seemed one of the most fair managers I have seen in awhile. I respect people who honestly care, and cameron you and Cindy did your jobs. Thank you for your hospitality and lovely waitstaff. we will be back-Gene Hambonious
- Pros: they handled it well
- Cons: i got goofy
Below Average, Way Overpriced Mexican Food
by coastereric
Tortilla Jos at Downtown Disney should be avoided. It is the worst restaurant at the Disneyland Resort and not deserving of such a prime location. What you?ll get is horrible service, along with mediocre, overpriced Mexican food. Sadly a meal at Taco Bell or Del Taco is more satisfying, than the bland, disgusting slop this place serves up with a frown and at a very expensive price point. I went once for appetizers and drinks and left unimpressed. When friends suggested the place again, I thought I?ll give it a second try, but what a huge mistake.
Besides lousy service, Tortilla Jos serves up some of the worst, uninspiring Mexican food of all-time. Folks, this is what you?d expect from a Mexican restaurant in the middle of Iowa or upstate New York, not Southern California where exceptional Mexican food is found all over.
My Tostada Salad was flavorless and far below average. The table salsa served with chips was a spicy sewage that was far from enjoyable, but will save you a few calories. The pitcher of margarita was a sour, sorry mess that was served with inappropriate glasses and no assistance from our server, making for a wet, sticky table. My girlfriend tried the tacos and compared the meat to a name brand dog food. And good luck getting anything you request from your server. I ended up helping myself when it came to utensils and extra glassware. When the bill arrived we were all in for severe sticker shock. Mexican food is typically affordable and we can accept that everything at the Disneyland Resort is a little higher priced, but for sub-par food and miserable service this place is a bona fide rip off. I cannot emphasize this enough - don't go. The eventual and hopeful failure of Tortilla Jos will spare others the pain and trust me I won't be giving it a third chance. It's hard to believe that this place is owned by the reputable Patina group. It must be the runt.

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER
by ashleyk311
This place is a complete joke! Not only is their food overpriced and average but their service is unbelieveable! After having to ask for water, silverware and chips three different times our waitress served us a basket of chips that seemed to be the end of the bag...nothing but crumbs! The salsa tasted like refried beans and was gross. Once our waitress served us our food she completely disappeared! Apparently she ended up leaving her shift completely without having anyone take over our table. It took us over 40 minutes to get our plates taken away and our bill to come(we had to ask 2 different people!) To top it all off they ended up over charging my credit card by $50! WHAT A JOKE! Someone needs to get some new watiers and management!

- Cons: everything
Un-authentic Mexican Food
by miramk
Waiter doesn't come by to refill glasses with water. Food is very un-authentic. Don't waste your money.
- Pros: It's in Downtown Disney
- Cons: The food is not great and is not authentic, thus it is over-priced.
Worst Mexican Food Ever
by julesf402
I love Mexican restaurants, but this place was gross. The salsa was bad. The fresh guacamole wasn't good. We tried shrimp tacos, fish tacos, and chicken tacos - all tasteless. The menu said grilled chicken, it was actually the boiled shredded kind. We also got the Fundido Queso appetizer. I didn't think you could mess up cheese dip, but it also was nothing special. The staff was nice and accomodating. I won't ever go back though.
- Pros: Personnel
- Cons: Food
Bad service, Bland food.. good margaritas
by iknowggodfood
Average food with poor service, boring atmoshpere and high prices. This place tries to be a fancy mexican restaurant, they even advertise mariachi music on the weekends but like their menu ...it's all just hype! The food wasn't good. They serve you food that you didn't order with the excuse that they've run out of what you order so they just serve you something entirely different. The menu is entirely over priced! Staff is boring, and the place is dead! Not authentic, only good for obllivious tourists intent on blowing their money.
- Pros: house margaritas
- Cons: food, service, atmosphere
Patina Group's Best Casual Restaurant
by symantix
This restaurant is a mixed bag. Many of the dishes (Sea Bass Ceviche, Picadillo Burrito) are fantastic, but others are boring and can be skipped (mushroom empanadas, fajitas). The salsa has great flavor although it's totally devoid of heat.
The wine list is FAR from vast, and the choice of red wine by the glass is extremely limited. There is, however, a very impressive tequila list that allows you a 1/2 oz. taste or a full 2 oz serving. Still, many of the 1/2 oz sips are upwards of $10!!
The service is also mixed. We've had a range from fantastic service commesurate with that of a 4-star restaurant down to utterly incompetant servers.
Still, even with the criticism I've listed, I definitely recommend at least 1 visit to Tortilla Jo's. One word of caution - unless you show up REALLY early, expect a 30+minute wait on weekends & holidays.
Great Place

We visited a couple of weeks ago and found the food to be outstanding and the portions generous. The margaritas are wonderful as they are not too sweet, and they are not chintzy with the tequila.
There are a number of interesting dishes that you do not see elsewhere. And try the flan - outstanding!
- Pros: drinks, taste, price
