Former Anaheim truck stop turned legendary rock-and-roll roadhouse.

The Scene
Residing in an isolated and industrial area, the club's most notable attributes include a tall neon sign advertising tap beer and, inside, a small makeshift stage. Dark walls are adorned with pin-up girls and random photographs left over from the venue's earlier incarnation as a diner. Outside, smokers cluster together on the large back patio. Draft beers and wine are served in plastic cups, even on quiet nights.

The Draw
When Linda's Doll Hut closed its doors in the summer of 2001, it was considered the end of an era. The club was a musician's favorite and bands like Social Distortion and the Offspring sometimes popped in for surprise performances and post-Hootenanny sets. A couple who met at Linda's took over the space and reopened it that fall. Slow on weekdays, with a DJ spinning '40s, '50s and '60s records, weekends feature live bands, sold-out crowds and occasional Sunday barbecues.

Best live music in OC

by wyattstrange

This bar is as legendary for being an intimate place to see live music as the Continental Club in Austin, Texas. Check the schedule to find out if the band playing is one you want to see, then get there early because this small venue fills up fast. It's better since the re-model and the new owners, but it still tends to get crowded when a good band is playing.

  • Pros: great bands, great atmosphere, colorful locals
  • Cons: small size, it gets loud inside, shows sell out fast
