money hungry

I have been a patient with dr effron and I all I got from her was a big debt and no imporvement on my skin, or my daughters warts. she would come in and try to treat my daughters warts with this can and when my daughter would start to cry she would say loudly " IT DOESN'T HURT AND STOP CRYING!! I never brought her back. everytime I came in, I told to get some new cleanser or some kind of product (and you would never guess whos name was on the jars) Dr Cheryl Effron if this is not a way to sell her product I don't know what is. she always told me that her product had everything I needed in it, after some investigating I found the same chemicals in over the counter products.
You have to wait to see her in the waiting room for sometimes up to an hour and then wait in the back room for another half an hour to have her come in for 5 minutes. she is rude, and does not have a bed side manner I can not agree that she care for her patients to me she only cares for her $$$$
- Pros: late appointments
- Cons: always waiting and rushed visits all about the money
2 Hour round trip and no appointment!
by Cheryl Effron at Citysearch
I made an appointment with Dr. Effron's Anaheim Hills office, which is an hour drive from where I live, on July 1, 2011. The appointment was for August 15th at 2:10pm. I did not receive any calls to confirm my appointment and I drove the hour on Aug 15th thinking I had an appointment. When I arrived at 1:51pm, Mariette told me they didn't have me on the schedule. That my appointment was cancelled. I told her I didn't cancel and I never received any appointment confirmation calls either. She couldn't tell me how my appointment was cancelled. She said she would "try and fit me in" as if she was doing me a favor when it wasn't my fault, it was thier office screw up. She said it may take about 45 minutes. I waited for almost an hour and left. I now feel that I would not get quality care from Dr. Effron's staff after this and would not go back or recommend anyone else to suffer the office staff incompetence.
Amazing Dermatologist
by NateDog72 at Citysearch
Absolutely amazing dermatologist. My daughter has pretty severe psoriasis and we were very picky about who we saw. From the moment we met Dr. Effron, we knew she was the perfect doctor for our daughter.
Dr. Effron has a wonderful bedside manner, a kind heart, and an IQ and EQ that transcends any other doctor I have seen.
- Pros: Kind, gentle, great with kids
Such a passionate doctor!
by akemichan at Citysearch
She constantly amazes me how passionate she is about in her field. She travels all over the world to give lectures to people and help people at the same time she is so open minded to seek the best of the best treatments, medicines & products wherever she goes.
Her vast range of knowledge and passion have always helped our family. She constantly introduces the best products that is reasonably priced out there and always gives us choices so that we can attack our skin issues within our means.
She is the hardest working doctor I've ever known. Always there for her patients 6 days a week from early morning till late in the evening unless she has lecture engagements some parts of the world ;-)
We truly thank you for your hard work Dr. Effron!
- Pros: Constantly seeking the best of the best
- Cons: A bit of drive for us
She has helped our family tremendously

My younger daughter and myself has severe eczema. Every time she sees us, she gives us very detailed instruction of what to do. If we thoroughly follow her directions, our condition gets improved immediately. Amazing how quickly she spots our issues and treat us.
When I'm too busy and cannot follow her direction precisely, then I can see that I slowed down the speed of getting results. My elder daughter's warts got improved tremendously in a few days after we are given the directions. My husband has been seen by her since she started practice. Our girls have been seen by her since they were babies and been helped throughout. She is very gentle with our daughters and filled with fun spirits. My girls love her and so do we.
- Pros: All of our skin problems got improved and under control
- Cons: Nothing I can think of
Thankful Family

I have 4 kids coming to see Dr. Effron for acne problems monthly. Though they are all on different regiments, all of them are getting results. They are not embarrassed at school anymore. These days kids can be cruel at school. Now my kids are confident and looking great!
I also had a mole that Dr. Effron was concerned about. I had a biopsy done by Dr.Effron. Dr. Effron took the time to send it out for a second opinion and it came back as she predicted, cancerous. I had a MOHS procedure done and I am fine now.
Dr.Effrons products are wonderful. For the past 5 years my family has used Dr. Effrons gentle cleanser, glysal cleanser, pads for acne and we couldn't be happier. We also love her sunscreen pads for after school sports! They are very reasonable since I have 4 kids to buy for.
I have recommended several of my friends to Dr. Effron, however I advise them of longer wait times. I also let them know Dr.Effron is result driven and you will either like her or perhaps not like her. Dr. Effrons current staff is very likeable and polite.
I just wanted to thank Dr. Effron for all her dedication to her patients and committment to getting results for my entire family.
My kids and I will see you next month. :)
- Pros: Results..Results..Results
- Cons: Wait times
Beauty Editors Beware!
by CodeWordMeg at Citysearch
I can't say enough about this place. I'm a beauty editor, and I was going to write a review on Dr. Effron for my column. Now I'm afraid that if I print my experience with her, she might be removed from practice or something. I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy, but Dr. Effron is someone I will never forget.
I went in to clear my skin after a season's worth of beauty samples left me looking sub par. She destroyed my face. I booked the first appt of the day each time I visited, and still had to wait every single time. And she knew I was a beauty editor, and there to write a review on her! Imagine how you'll be treated! Once, after 45 minutes, I asked how much longer it would be. The staff told me she had a procedure ahead of me, two consultations, and then she'd get to me (i.e., another hour). I was livid. I have Rosacea, so you could see my anger in my face ;-)
I gave her three months to help me. I had a handful of appointments to try to fix the problem she caused at the last appointment. Each time I saw her, it was for about a minute each. Basically I attended 1-minute lectures on what she knows about the incorrect diagnosis she gave me. Then she'd leave and her nurse would write down everything she said, and THAT was when I had time to ask a question. I was blown away! And all her nurses would say is, "you'll have to ask Dr. Effron next time you're in." She pushes her cheap product line with a no-refund policy, won't suggest anything comparable over the counter, and kept prescribing me skin-stripping pricey acidic products to rid me of acne I didn't have. I aged at least 10 years in these two months. I have deep wrinkles on my forehead, nose, and around my eyes, that were non-existant before. I took it like a champ and hung in there, because she's supposed to have experience, and I figured this was all part of her plan.
Her products made me feel like I had severe sunburn on my face. My face peeled, cracked, and BLED. I woke up on fire in the middle of the night, and several times I left meetings to ICE my face. She said this was normal, but to try one of her other products. Yes people, she was aware of all of this.
I tried every product she had, because that was her solution. After my last visit with her, I pinched my cheek and the SKIN STAYED THAT WAY. I'm 29 years old and haven't been in the sun in 10 years. My skin used to be beautiful....just three months ago....
Immediately I began looking for a dermatologist I used 10 years ago, who I feared was no longer practicing, because she was pregnant the last time I saw her. She is! She's in Tustin, and her name is Dr. Said. I made a rush appointment and explained what happened, and by the end of the day I had relief. I slept through the entire night. The next day, I had some glow back. And the most beautiful part....my new products can be purchased at CVS (La Rochey something - same ones Amber Valetta uses). AND, Dr. Said doesn't look a day older than the last time I saw her. That says a lot.
I am still fighting the wrinkles and damage Dr. Effron did to me, which may even hurt my career as a beauty editor. I never ever leave negative reviews for anybody, because I believe in Karma. But, I won't be able to live with myself if someone just like me, some trusting fool who didn't do enough research, sees Dr. Effron without being warned first.
Dr. Effron and her products are the worst thing I've ever exposed my body to. STAY AWAY. Do your research!!!
- Pros: close to my house
- Cons: Too many to list - I am fighting to REPAIR WHAT SHE DID
You get what you pay for...

After going to several doctors, I finally found someone that actually knew what they were talking about. Educated and science driven, I actaully got results. If you listen and do what you are suppose to, you will get results...no doubt about it! If things are financially tight, Dr. Effron is willing to work with you too. Whether you get sample Rx's or perhpas get one of her brands for less then pharmacies trying to get you on generics. She is wonderful and caring. Thank you for all that you have done for our family.
- Pros: Results-Science driven
- Cons: some wait times
I feel scammed....
by aturp at Citysearch
I wanted to see Dr. Effron for a simple skin exam and during my evaluation I voiced concern over some uneveness in my skin tone. She suggested I had rosacea and recommended I buy all of her skin products including a cleanser, sunscreen and moisturizer. She also prescribed a very expensive face cream. She spent no more than 5 minutes with me and as I was asking questions she kept inching towards the door at time opening the door and then closing it again as I asked a new question. When I got my bill later I was charged $179 for that 5 minute office visit not to mention the $15 face cleanser, the $30 sunscreen, the $115 face cream and the $30 face wipes and I haven't seen any improvement in my complexion. After seeing her bill and experiencing such terrible bedside manner I canceled my follow-up appointment and will be seeking a new dermatologist. I wouldn't go back to her if it was free.
- Pros: Nearby
- Cons: Dr. Effron is nothing more than a salesperson
Surgery without antibiotics?
by DutchCoupon at Citysearch
I had my left knee replaced on 2-10-09 (which was communicated to Dr Effron) when I went to see her on 3-10-09 for a suspicious mole (near the knee replacement incision). Long story short - she NEVER consulted the surgeon who did the knee replacement PRIOR to taking a biopsy of the mole - which turned out to be cancerous - NOR prior to having surgery done to remove the cancer. What concerned me the most was that she never gave me antibiotics PRIOR to surgery! I trusted that she {being a doctor} would know the protocal....but that was not the case. My surgeon, upon finding out that the surgery Dr Effron had done WITHOUT antibiotics was also done without a phone call to him - was my reason for never trusting or going back to her again. I appreciate that the cancer was caught - but the fact that she put me at risk of getting an infection (and possible 2nd knee surgery) will keep me from ever going back to her!
- Pros: Mole was cancerous
- Cons: Didn't check with knee replacement surgeon before proceeding
Dr. Effron Dermatologist or sales person? You decide.
by RonaldBrown92647 at Citysearch
Dr. Effron is truly a sales person. I waited in the waiting room for her for about an hour and a half. I was to be seen for a pigment discoloration at the corner of my mouth, which turns out to be vitiligo as diagnosed by a good dermatologist. She finally came in the room, didn't even look at this vitiligo spot and went straight for the rosacea. She said, oh you have rosacea pretty bad, I recommend myself to do laser treatment and you should buy a bunch of my cosmetics. She tried to sell me 5 laser sessions at her Anaheim Hills clinic and about 150.00 in her cosmetics. Wow thanks for nothing. To top it off, apparently my PPO would not cough up money to pay there portion. Instead of receiving a statement for the balance 4 months later I receive a phone call from a collections agency. Thanks for ruining my credit and not paying attention to why I originally showed up. Don't bother talking to Donna in billing. She told me that I should learn how to pay my bills and that she doesn't have time to talk to someone who doesn't pay on time and hung up on me. Come on, whats with our health care system?
- Pros: ? Are you serious ? Pros, lol, lol, hahahaahhahahaha
- Cons: Worst medical practice ever.
