Set sail on this high-seas adventure!
by jenheidir
What I think many people still don?t know is that this boat ride inspired the Pirates of the Caribbean movie, not the other way around. If you haven?t been on this attraction since the blockbuster trilogy came out, you might notice a few changes, mainly Captain Jack Sparrow popping up in many a scene! This ride is fun for fans of the movie of all ages. Plus, with a few small dips, splashes and dark, cavernous passageways, it?s also presents a manageable challenge for younger kids looking for a scarier ride, but who are still too short or just not ready to do Space Mountain.
- Pros: creative ride
- Cons: long lines

the way disneyland made it was sooooooooooooooooooooooooo fun!its dark inside, and its a water ride.you go down two drops and you know before you're gonna fall when you hear rushing water.the special effects are great.there's thunder and pirates singing.but i went there in 2004 and they made it better now.
Witness a pirate's adventure from the safety of your own boat in this sea-inspired ride.

The Appeal
A prime example that Disney can be amazingly creative without being cute, Pirates of the Caribbean remains one of Disneyland's best rides. Visitors begin the indoor boat ride with an immersion into complete darkness--but soon you'll feel the light breeze and smell the musty odor of waterside adventures. There's almost too much to soak in as you ride past animatronic pirates raiding a town, or as you skirt through a sea battle with exploding cannons.
Facts
This ride utilizes Fastpass, so lines usually aren't long (although waiting in line on a hot day might even be a relief, since the cave-like queue is dark and cool).
So Cool!

The pirates of the caribbean ride is a must for any visitor to Disneyland. I especially enjoyed going on this ride after seeing the two pirates movies. The kids loved it and even my grandma had a good time. It's a tame ride overall but there's a dip at the end. It's not too big but if you're not a ride or roller coaster person, just be aware. Also, the ride is on water so there may be some splashing. The different pirate scenarios shown are a little dated but still entertaining. It's one of the highlights to the entire Disneyland experience so be sure to go!
- Pros: Cool, water ride
- Cons: dip at end

relaxation and comfort mixed with thrills and excitement. these are the thoughts that run through my head whenever i think of pirates of the caribbean. since the first time i set foot on this ride i knew that nothing would ever stop me from going back. from that first drop to the depths of the cave to the very last turn to the top, this ride is perfect through and through.
Argh! Me Be A Pirate!

Ride the ride, then see the movie, then ride the ride again to see what you might have missed the first time. Its a Disney classic that should never be touched. I love every aspect of the ride-- especially the scene with the pigs! Go during weekdays to avoid the weekend crowds. If crowded, get a 'fast pass' to avoid a long line.
- Pros: Fun
- Cons: None
An Oldie but still a great ride!
by bendavidian
This is a terrific ride - one of my favorites in Disneyland. The animatronics were unbelievable when they were first displayed years ago, but they have lost nothing over time. You will want to go on Pirates more than once!
- Pros: exciting
- Cons: long lines sometimes
Terrify the toddlers!
by kspearl
There is a lot to take in on this ride. I've only been twice, once hugely pregnant, and once with a two year old. The first time I didn't notice how scary it could be to a little kid, the second time I dealt with a terrified toddler! The effects are cool, look for fireflies in the beginning of the ride... the attention to detail is incredible, but some of the subject matter may be frightening to the very young. It is a good place to get in out of the sun, and seems to last for a long time. It is a ride not to miss for sure.
