Just plain bad!

by CSMobileUser

For $40 we got the tasteless chicken lunch and two Sodas. The servers were bad but had good intentions. Chicken dry and gravy might be the worst i've had. We came here because of the good review, don't make the same mistake.

Don't believe everything you hear

by vallinmeg

My family went there after going to Knott's Berry Farm and I heard on TV that their chicken was very good so we decided to wait in line which was oh... for at least 30 minute. Me and my husband ordered their Chicken Dinner, it came with a few sides. Everything looked great, crispy chicken, fluffy biscuits and golden pies. But this is something what we all heard before, "Don't judge the book by its cover". The biscuits were VERY bland, good thing they gave us a lot of different flavor of jelly and butter. The chicken was bland. kFC's chicken and biscuits in my opinion its MUCH MUCH BETTER. The pies were starchy and not flaky. You should try Sara Lee's frozen pies, its much better too. O.k. It wasn't all bad, the corn, the mash potato and gravy and service was good. I'm sure they have better stuff on the menu, i hope.

  • Pros: Looks good
  • Cons: Bland

Not worth it

by genner

Food is mediocre. Cost is high. Service is terrible. We had a large party. They forced us to pay up-front, including the gratuity, and then disappeared. We contacted the manager who just excused the situation. We won't return.

  • Cons: bad service, high prices, mediocre food

The Best

by PR1NC3SS

Our family come here twice a year, and it's never a disappointment. The chicken is great and the biscuts are the best. Simply, they are the best and we'll continue to go year after year. Nobody comes close, not even Shakeys, which I love.

Liked the food

by MsGlendale

THe food was good. The atmosphere/ cleanliness not as good.

Service was good. Loved the biscuits that come with the meal. We didn't care for the sherbert or the cabbage. But Overall the fried chicken and mashed potatoes were fine. They were hot. The line wasn't long at 2pm on a Saturday. The price wasn't value, but it wasn't expensive, either.

  • Pros: biscuits, chicken
  • Cons: ambience

Don't waste your time!

by MichaelFrye

Albertson's Chicken was far better than the Knott's brand. I've eaten at the chicken restaurant in the past, and it seems like it has fell off tremendously. However, the biscuits were very good. Not worth the money.

Best Fried Chicken anywhere...avoid weekends though.

Timing IS everything...unless you WANT to stand in line for about 30 minutes!!! Our Family has a tradition with this place and it's never gonna dwindle with age.

A Piece of History

by theeducatedreview

Knott's Fried Chicken has long been considered one of the best fried chicken houses in Southern California, if not the world. Many skeptics have refuted this claim, and some even accuse the chicken itself of being bland; which leads me to ask them in return, where else would you go? Where else would you find an excellent four piece dinner including chicken noodle soup, a biscuit, and dessert? Aside from the extras, where else would you find a breastpiece so tender and moist that it seems to put all other fried chicken places to shame? The only fried chicken I've had better than this was my mother's, which, of course, I cannot review. Obviously with the advent of the Chicken Broaster, the taste, freshness, and texture of fried ("broasted") chicken in general has improved, but Knotts stays true to the old method and continues to turn out wonderfully juicy and tender chicken for a fair price. The lines do get long; but if it wasn't worth it, all the other people would not have waited. It's better to stand in the line than to stand to the side, stare at the line, and complain. Whittle away the time talking (this is an experience to share with others), and next thing you know you're at the table waiting for your food. Try to avoid peak lunch and dinner times-- try to stop by around 5 for dinner to avoid lines that are TOO long.

  • Pros: Genuinely feel-good fried chicken.
  • Cons: Lines can get pretty long; bring something to do or someone to talk with.

Where theme park tourists come to refuel on fried chicken and biscuits.

by Contributor

In Short
Back in the '30s, families lined up to sample Cordelia Knott's famed fried bird. Those long waits inspired the family to open the adjoining theme park. The country-style vibe remains intact with paper placemats and waitresses in poofy dresses. The signature fried chicken dinner includes four crispy pieces served with mashed potatoes and gravy. The Knotts are also famous for their boysenberries--a slice of the tart boysenberry pie is a dessert menu staple.

One of the best.

by coolreengo

This place has some of the best fried chicken I have ever had. The biscuits are great, The Boysenberry pie is delicious, I would recommend boysenberry punch to drink. I would also recommend to NOT go during dinner time, luch time, or breakfast time, since the lines are known to get quite long(especially once Knotts closes and people inside the park make thier way to the retruant.

  • Pros: chicken dinners, Boysenberry pie, well-priced
  • Cons: Can get crowded, long lines
