No Better Place to Dine at Disneyland

by sillyup2

Imagine dining at a restaurant where it is night all day long. You can here crickets and a banjo playing in the distance. You can see boats sailing past you. This is all possible at the Blue Bayou.

The blue bayou restaurant is located in the Pirates of the Caribbean ride at Disneyland. This means you can see boats sail past the restaurant. No other place can beat the atmosphere.

As for the food it is great! It is cajun style and has a good amount of variety. The Monte Cristo is a great sandwich served for lunch. The food at the blue bayou will fill you up. The wedge salad and poatoes were great!

Service was also great. The waiter refilled our drinks with out asking. We were served tons of bread. The waiter checked up on us numerous times making sure our meal was perfect.

The blue bayou REQUIRES reservations. So make sure you do have reservations at least 1 week before. Also when checking into the restaurant request Water-side seating for the best experience.

Our bill totatled up to $100 for a party of four. However it was well worth it with the atmosphere and the good food!

  • Pros: Food, service, and Amibence were great.
  • Cons: Reservations are required.

Fantastic Resturant

by rtlady

My family has been going to the Blue Bayou for years now. And yes, it is on the upper end of the price scale

but it is soooo worth it. And we have been able to have a party of 8 there. A lot of the food can be shared but they do charge a split plate charge. But you also get the wonderful atmosphere and excellent service. But from experience be sure and get the priority seating before you arrive for the park from your home. This way you are guaranteed the time and kind of table that you wish. And if you want to sit by the water be sure and request this also. And try to show up at least 15 minutes before your reservation time. With these little tricks we have made our eating experience here that much more wonderful, as our wait time etc. is cut way down. Again, we just love the food. If you have children with you the amount of food from the childrens menu is very large.

  • Pros: Food, Service, Atmosphere
  • Cons: Split plate charge

Old Fashion Service

by jalu3

All I have to say is OMG! Not in my wildest dreams did I know that there was a restaurant like this in the middle of Disneyland. But then again, my parents were never ones to lavish me with expensive things.

If you come here, don't expect to spend any less than $60 for a couple, however, you palet and your sense of service will be well rewarded. The food here is definatly something to return to. The servings, although not huge, are larger then the average fare you find in the park, and several steps up in quality. Try the prime rib please. They say the cut they serve is 9 oz, however, as with most cases the cuts very, with some going as large as 12 oz. I couldn't speak for the rest, but all look very appetizing.

However, if you are not going for the wonderful ambiance which is created by the always set to moonlight and backwater bayou feel, with a plantation charm . . . go for the service. The service is the type that not even the most expensive restaurants practice. Here you will get old fashion service with a VERY attentive, but not intrusive, staff. That alone would make me want to come back here again and again. Most places will let your wistle go dry for 10 minutes at a time, however, that is not the case here. Rather they are always ready to top you off, and to make sure that your dining experience is everythign you expect it to be, and then some.

Yet one thing is lacking. Wine. As it is in the park one cannot have wine with your meal . . . after all it is in Disneyland.

  • Pros: Best dining in the park open to the public
  • Cons: You should reserve in advance, and long before you plan to go to the park.

NICE ATMOSPHERE BUT DON'T EAT THE JAMBALAYA!

by rm78

We went to the Blue Bayou at 11:00 am on a weekend with no reservation and only had to wait about 20 minutes for a table for 4 right next to the water. It's a bit pricey but you're really just paying for the atmosphere. The food wasn't very good. I had the jambalaya and i only had about 2 or 3 bites. It was way too fishy and mushy and had a tiny dried out stick on top of it that was supposed to be a crab leg. The rest of my party was from Louisiana and couldn't even swallow the Jambalaya. The gumbo was ok. I ended up eating about 4 pieces of bread to get full. Everyone else with me had the Monte Cristo Sandwhich which they thought was pretty good as long as you dipped it in the raspberry jam they serve on the side. I'll probably never eat here again.

Blue bayou is the place you want to eat when going to Disneyland California

by drtechno

me and wife and the kids at the Blue Bayou and she ate the Royal Street Seafood Jambalaya $25.99 and I had the Le Sp`ecial Del Monte Cristo $18.99 and the kids had the Kid menu it was 3 courses and drink included ($9.99) the adult order comes with 2 sides as well, it was 4PM and about 92 degrees outside, but when we was seated you swear you are eating outside at night . you eat by laterns hanging over over, with the sound of the crickets chirping, and boats sailing past you (Pirates of the carribean ride) This resturant is insdie the ride, the view if your lucky to get a table by the water you will see what looks like a lake with wild flower a house and the moon. and some cloudes. it is very romantic and peacful and relaxing automesphare. I suggest to bring money as it is pricey but the food is enought for it to be shared with 2 people. Reservations is highly recommeded as that is the most populare resturant to eat inside Disneyland. California.so i would make then 45 to 50 days in advance as walk up is hard to get and if you are lucky you might wait a few hours to get seated.

  • Pros: relaxing, romantiic, childrens Menu 3 courses and drink included.
  • Cons: adults can no longer order from Kids menu in this resturant.

great view, too expensive food

by bootsytown

We went here right after they finished the renovation of

Pirates, and it looked like they overhauled the whole menu,

which you could keep as a souvenir. We ordered the least

expensive thing on the lunch menu, an $18.99 Monte Christo

sandwich! It was enough for both of us and we were lucky

since they didn't charge us $6 for their splitting fee. Only go

if you're prepared to spend a boatload. Pun intended.

Got sick afterwards!

by malibusurf

Celebrated my son's 13th birthday there. Three of us got violently ill after the meal, including my son. All had the salad. Reported it to Disney and received a very poor response denying any fault in the incident. Very dissappointed after spending nearly $200 there + 3 day hopper passes to Disney + hotel with such a dismal ending. Very dissappointed with Disney's reponse!

I loved it!

by tinfoilgrl

My ex-boyfriend took me to the Blue Bayou 5 years ago and I still remember the atmosphere =) Best to go in the evening, I think - it was dark, romantic and the perfect alternative to a candle-lit dinner because there were soft, colorful lights everywhere. A place to feel beautiful and revive the "first date" feeling.

The Best Monte Cristo

by skip31

I can't say too much about the food, because all I've ever gotten was the Monte Cristo sandwich. There's a reason for that. It's the best Monte Cristo sandwich I've ever had. The clam chowder is pretty good. The gumbo is a little watery, with way too much okra. The creme brulee is the worst I've ever had, so avoid that at all costs. It's way to gelotinous, with no vanilla flavor whatsoever. The baked apple in a pastry shell is really good. It just needs vanilla ice cream to make it perfect. All in all, it's a nice place to eat if you've never been there, or if you have. At least go once for the Monte Cristo sandwich.

  • Pros: Great Monte Cristo, Nice Ambience, Good Service
  • Cons: , Have To Make Res.
