Good food, crowded place

by thatguy6

I went to this Rainforest Cafe in Anaheim and the one in Las Vegas and thye both were the same. The food was good(not great, but ok) and it was slightly overpriced. We waited about 45 for a table for 4, but looking around the gift shop made the time go by alittle quicker. The restaurant looks like something out of Indiana Jones, full of tropical animals, and some african animals and alot of vegetation, a huge aquarium, and fire shooting out the top of the building with acouple of fater falls, overall i think i might go back but its not my first choice in restaurants.

  • Pros: Food, fake animals coming alive
  • Cons: Crowded,slightly over priced

This cartoon jungle is a child's wonderland, with waterfalls, swinging monkeys and a canopy of faux flora and fauna.

In Short
While waiting for a table, hungry diners prowl the retail village, where cash-register ka-chings compete with chirping birds, roaring lions and chest-thumping gorillas. When the lights start to flicker, never fear--thunderstorms are part of the show. The menu is American comfort food--pastas, burgers, pizzas and salads--served with a tropical flair. There are plenty options that the kids will recognize, but enough novelty to keep the parents happy.

avoid weekends

by blacklove01

the food is great i can't rave enough about the rasta pasta and the awesome appetizer. However I have had two bad experinces with the rain forest cafe the first was when my mother came into town we went to rain forest and we also bought a cake with us the resturant offered to place it in their refrigarator while we enjoyed our dinner when it was time to eat our cake the waitress laughed and stated she had dropped our cake, the resturant did provide us with another cake, and we were compensated on the bill for the price of the cake, however my husband went with some of our friends this weekend and we had the best service from our waiter at the time brett but his breaker was very rude he snatched the plates out of our hands and he also didn't ask was everything okay or how did we enjoy our food it was very dissapointing to say that my mother and our friends had experinced both bad experinces.

  • Pros: ambience and food
  • Cons: service and extensive long wait

Great Family Fun!!

by raz1iss

The Food is average (burgers, salads, ribs) but tasty. The wait can get a little long but for parents of young children the atmosphere & experience is well worth it. The place is so much fun. My family goes every time we are at Downtown Disney & never regret it.....lotsa family fun

  • Pros: Decor, Fun Atmosphere, Giftshop.
  • Cons: Can get a lil pricey for some menu items.

Fun place!

by panchamora

The wait can be a bit long, but it just feels like you are somewhere else dining here..I love the fish tank sorrounding the place...the food is just your basic staples with a bit of a twist...a tropical twist like adding cucumbers to a chicken plate or the coconut chicken strips...it may be a bit pricey but a great, cheery experience

love the atmosphere!

by greymouse26

My boyfriend and I met up with some friends here for lunch. I love the atmosphere; there's a simulated tropical thunderstorm every half hour. Also, they have animatronic animals too. It's so much fun! Their food is great: I love the coconut battered chicken strips and their chinese chicken salad. The service was slow. We were put in the back and were forgotten. Our drinks were rarely refilled and it took awhile to get the bill. But, the food was wonderful.

  • Pros: fun atmosphere
  • Cons: slow service; sometimes a wait to be seated

Aww, it's cute!

by dmenkes

Honestly, don't come here expecting world-class food or highbrow society. It's for families and it's fun! We were seated near the silverback gorilla that would growl and beat its chest. I feel bad for the couple that was seated immediately beneath it as I'm sure they were annoyed. The place darkens and turns into a monsoon several times during the meal, and a booklet explaining the different animals found in the rainforest make things a bit more educational. The food is decent if not a bit steep for what it is, but just imagine the overhead at a place like that. I've been here several times and as long as you call in ahead, the wait times aren't too bad. A welcome respit from the beating sun on a hot summer afternoon.

  • Pros: fun family place
  • Cons: so-so food

Meh

by cambird

Basically, just another gimmicky nature restaurant (though it comes nowhere close to the Mayan in Utah, in which speedoed men jump off giant rocks... ridiculous). The food isn't bad, but is very overpriced.

Get a Rainforest membership card if you want faster seating

by foodielover

I purchased a Rainforest membership card many, many years ago for $10 and that card has more than paid for itself. You get 5 mins earlier seating when you arrive, a choice of 10% off the total tab or a free appetizer up to $8.99 each time you dine there. We ate here 2x as we were staying at the Disneyland Hotel, an easy walk. The food isn't the best you can have but they make a delicious fried calamari. The salads are huge, enough for a meal for 2 at $13. The chicken fried steak was good but hamburger was fair. Little kids love the atmosphere, but our local gorilla was irritating as it would make loud noises for almost a full minute every 15 mins or so. Not to mention the yelling that goes on whenever anyone orders the outrageously large "Volcano" dessert & Happy Birthday singing by the wait staff similiar to Chevy's restaurants. They give you large portions and given the outrageous price of food at the whole Disney resort area, this place seems to be a bargain. If you're staying at the Disney Hotel, you have a room refrigerator to store leftovers. The food here is certain better than any ESPN restaurant/bar. This place is the busiest restaurant in the Downtown Disney area and even if the waitstaff is friendly, there's a constant hussle bussle that makes it feel like Grand Central Station.

  • Pros: Fried Calamari, good for little kids
  • Cons: Long waits during peak hours, loud noises, friendly but hectic service
