What People Are Saying About Wood Ranch BBQ & Grill

In Short – This isn't a typical barbecue joint, and the vibe and food are anything but rustic. Inside, families and couples at large booths and tables feast on mesquite-grilled BBQ in a modern, earth-toned setting. Slow-roasted meats, such as baby-back ribs and chicken, dominate the moderately-priced menu, but crowd-pleasers also include the 15-ounce Kansas City Strip, freshwater Idaho trout and balsamic shrimp. If that doesn't trip the trigger, Certified Angus Beef burgers and mile-high salads are other options.

Very Good

Wood Ranch is actually reallly good. I know a couple people who had their weddings catered by them. It is a little nicer than a casual restaurant.
A nice place. But, over-priced.

My wife and I had lunch here with 6 other family members. Our waitress was very nice and she did her job very well. I almost felt sorry for her because she was handling my party of eight, plus a few other tables by herself. Everyone was given bread (dinner rolls) which were pretty good. I ordered the WR tri tip meal with a side of baked beans (the side came with the meal). The meals were served on very large plates. My plate contained a chunk of tri-tip and a rather small cup of baked beans. Nothing else was on the plates, not even a some garnish to make it look a little nicer. It was amusing to see this huge plate with a chunk of meat and a bowl of beans on it. Something was missing. What I'm trying to say is that I paid $23.00 for what amounted to a couple of dinner rolls, a cup of baked beans, and a pretty good-sized piece of tri-tip. My wife ordered salmon with a side of mashed sweet potatoes. Her piece of salmon was fairly large, and she liked the potatoes. But again, it just didn't seem to warrant the price. If you like BBQ, you may like the place. But, compared to other restaurants that have the same theme, Wood Ranch just doesn't do it for me.
- Pros: The meat portions are fairly large
- Cons: Not enough condiments
Eat more fish. Love the tri tip.

BBQ is a personal thing and the tri tip here is the best I've ever had. The thing is, this place makes the best fish I've had in a long time. Grilled over white oak -- they showed me the separate grill they use. Very smart. I loved the baked potato and the asparagus. Eat well, my friends.
- Pros: Great tri tip and fish.
- Cons: Wait can be lengthy.
Not too good

We ate at Woodranch this past weekend for lunch. It was not all that impressive. But I am from the south where BBQ is life. They drench it in this mesquite BBQ sauce that is not too good. The ribs would be much better without all the sauce. The gaucamole was EXCELLENT! The smashed sweet potatoes YUCK! The mac and cheese was BLAH. Overall it was not worth $60 for lunch portion with two kids also eating.
- Pros: Great Gaucamole, but this is a BBQ place
- Cons: Mesquite not my thing!
Way above average. Best steak value in So Cal.

I couldn't believe we were actuallly going to wait 45 minutes to eat here, but it was worth it. I rarely eat steak outside of the big steak restaurants, but Wood Ranch has one of the best ribeyes I've ever had. I'm not going to pay $40 anymore for a piece of meat on a plate. Here, I got the steak -- more than I could finish -- a salad and a side dish of sweet potatoes that was outrageously good. I don't like waiting, but I can figure that part out. This is one great restaurant.
