Food and atmosphere are awesome. I used to think parking was an issue as there was only the valet but I learned you can park in the parking structure the residents above use and the catch will validate your parking. so it's free.
The Catch serves up upscale, casual dining in Anaheim, CA.
Tacos by the Rack – choose one style (slow cooked pork carnitas or blackened mahi-mahi), 4 tacos to an order. The Blackened Mahi-Mahi is lightly breaded chunks of mahi-mahi, warm corn tortillas, shredded cabbage, guacamole, and chipotle sour cream. The guacamole has a jalapeno kick to wake you up. Don’t worry, it’s a good burn. The fish was a little dry, perhaps if it was cooked a little less, it would lock in the juices. Otherwise, it had a really good flavor. Thumbs up!
Pork Carnitas Stuffed Potato Skins topped salsa quemada, queso pinella, green chiles, shaved onion, cilantro, and lime juice. They were the biggest potato skins ever! It’s more like half a potato with a little bit of potato scooped out of the middle to pile on a mound of filling. The carnitas were tender and juicy. The sour cream and guacamole added just an accent of cool creaminess. Thumbs up!
Master Louie Salad is a classic Louie featuring jumbo lump crab (not imitation) and whole bay shrimp with shredded iceberg lettuce, avocado, asparagus, cool cucumber, hard-boiled egg, roma tomato, and house-made Louie dressing. The salad tasted fresh with healthy mix of ingredients. This salad had LOTS OF CRAB! The Louie dressing looks like thousand island but a little different. It’s a mayonnaise based dressing with red chili sauce, minced green onions green chili peppers. The dressing was invented back in the early 1900s and is almost always served with crab. The Catch’s version matched perfectly with the crab and shrimp. Thumbs up!
The 16 oz. Ribeye is hand-cut choice Greater Omaha Premium Black Angus Beef (USA-certified and aged 28 days for optimum tenderness) ribeye served with potato cassoulet and asparagus. It was a nice size steak with really good flavor, perfectly marbled and seasoned well on the outside. Although, it was overcooked from medium rare to medium, they did offer to make another one. The rest of our party was well into their meals and offered a dessert instead. They really make every effort to make sure you are happy with your meal. A baked potato was substituted for the cassoulet. The baked potato was HUGE and baked to perfection with a fluffy interior. Thumbs up!
Red Velvet Cake is the classic Southern-style buttermilk red velvet cake baked to order, iced table side with cream cheese vanilla frosting and served with vanilla ice cream and toasted pecans and seasonal fruit. The presentation in a cast iron skillet is wonderful. The server brought it out and slathered it with the cream cheese frosting tableside and topped it off with the ice cream, pecans and fruit. It’s a cool tableside show at the end of your meal. If you do decide on it, let your server know in advance as it takes 30 minutes to prepare. Thumbs up!
Horrible Service! Mediocre Food! Overpriced!.
We had out-of-town friends visiting. Since they were staying in Anaheim, we decided to give this place a try. They had fond memories of the The Catch when they used to live here. When we arrived, we discovered the only parking was either a $25 garage or valet. No free parking.
The Catch has both a sports bar and a dining room. The sports bar is roomy and spacious. The dining room is cramped, uncomfortable, and noisy. Our server only visited our table 3 times - to take our drink order, take our food order, and bring us the bill.
My wife wanted a more casual meal and saw that another patron had ordered off the casual food bar menu. When she asked the waiter for the bar menu, he abruptly and rudely told her no, she is not allowed. She pointed out the fact that another patron ordered off the bar menu, but he kept to his rude tone.
My wife flagged down another server, who promptly brought her the bar menu. She had to give this person the order, as our server, named Jason, refused.
The specialty of the house is Chilean Sea Bass. I had seen pictures of the dish online, and it did not look particularly appetizing. The photo showed the fish was over browned on the top (left in the broiler too long), so I decided to get a filet. After all it is hard to mess up a filet, right? Wrong!!!
I had ordered a glass of Jade Mountain Cabernet. After I enjoyed the first glass, I set there with an empty glass until our food arrived.
Someone other than our server brought the food, but I asked him for another glass of wine. The steak looked a bit overcooked, so I switched to the house Cabernet, which is Beringer. Not quite the same as the Jade Mountain, but the steak did not deserve anything better.
As I suspected, the filet was overcooked and dry. I had ordered it rare and it came out medium. Normally, I would send it back, but I did not want to prolong sitting in the uncomfortable dining room. Besides, our server was no where in sight.
This place is conveniently located near Angel Stadium. It seems like a nice place to stop in for a drink and an appetizer as long as you stay in the bar. But, AVOID THE DINING ROOM LIKE THE PLAGUE.
GREAT FOOD!!! EXCELLENT SERVICE. When I recently dined at the Catch in the new location, I enjoyed both the food and the service. I had the Seabass, which was one of the best seafood entrees I have ever enjoyed!!! Our server was very attentive, friendly, and made some awesome recommendations. I highly recommend this place, and can't wait to go back!

After 32 years in its former location, this popular restaurant and bar moved to the bottom of the Avalon Bay Luxury residential building that's just a walk from Angel Stadium. Modern and welcoming, the expansive space is where fans, locals and families gather for upscale twists on classic American dishes. Burgers here have a decidedly fun flair like “The OMG” that is a burger surely meant for sharing (with many)--it's so huge that it's served on a 14-inch bun. The restaurant also specializes in seafood with such items as Chilean sea bass, mahi mahi and swordfish. The lounge also serves signature drinks like the Rally Monkey Martini in tribute to the mascot of the Angels.
