In Short
Founded in Oregon circa 1953, this simply-furnished spot owes its success to its creative menu and fresh ingredients. Batters are made on the premises; a special "sourdough starter" keeps treats from tasting overly sweet. Patrons choose from eggs, waffles, crepes and oven-baked omelets, as well as signature plates like blueberry pancakes (served with or without compote), giant cinnamon-glazed apple pancakes, thin and chewy "49-ers" and the air-filled, lemon-and-sugar-topped "Dutch Baby."

My friends all raved about how good this place was. I went to try it out and I didn't like it right away. I had to wait about 2 hours to get seated. 2 hours!!! I ordered the apple pancake and my friend ordered a crepe of some sort. She wasn't too pleased with it as it was pretty bland. My apple pancake came out exremely hot so I had to wait about another 20-30 minutes for it to cool down. Thanks to the 2 hour wait, I was very hungry so I bit into a still relatively hot pancake and was highly disapointed. Nothing special. Pretty big pancake but it didn't taste good at all. Maybe the burning I had in my mouth had something to do with it.

After reading the reviews and looking at the website, I had the Apple Pancake and the Dutch Baby, while my friend had the Belgian waffle with strawberries. I would say the pancakes are their specialty. The apply pancake was very delicious at the first bite, but after a while, it became too sweet for my taste. There was so much cinnamon and the pancake itself was a little soggy, probably from the apples. The Dutch Baby and the Belgian waffle were also good. We went on a Sunday morning around 11am and it was very packed. Overall, I would recommend eating at this place at least once.
Pros: Good pancakes
Cons: Crowded, parking
