I phoned in needing to know if they could help me with last minute party ideas. I was told, "not a problem". Did I have a theme in mind? I hadn't even thought about a theme. I was asked several questions to help him get an idea as to what might be needed and shortly came up with a theme, all the party favors I would need, affordable costumes and everything else I needed including someone to make animals from balloons. He saved me a lot of time and headaches. Thanks Best Magic.
Go online for your magic needs – Clerk (owner?) asked what my needs were. I told him that I put on a "magic show" every year for my grand-daughter's class. I had researched some magic online and lost it all when my computer crashed. So I needed some easy props/ideas. He said he could spend all day showing them to me. When he asked when the magic show is, I told him "Friday" (this was Tuesday). He looked so shocked that I told him "It's no problem - my "schtick" is that I go in front of them and say "I'm the Knucklehead Magician and so don't expect miracles" (The kids always appreciate that and laugh at my goofs). The clerk finished my sentence with: "And I don't bother to take the time to research the tricks and give you a good show" (He was obviously offended by my light-hearted attitude towards his "craft" - And I guess he forgot that I had lost what I had already researched.) Seriously - not everyone who walks into a magic shop wants to be Chris Black! What ever happened to helping the customer with their individual needs? He then showed me 3 easy tricks (of which I bought 2), and a large magic book (that I bought). I was ready to buy more but he wouldn't show me any more easy tricks as he said it's better to learn a couple of tricks well than several doing them bad (something to that effect). I got to hear about how he's been in the business 10 years, bladdy blah. Honestly, I didn't ask for his opinion on how I do my show. I've done it for five years, and, blunders and all, the kids beg for it every year. I should have walked out of the store at the beginning when the other clerk shooshed me away (with a curt "Excuse us!") when I walked up as he was showing another couple a card trick. At another magic shop I've been to people all gather around when a trick is being displayed. Street magicians welcome a crowd. I told my husband that there are obviously "Rules" one must know when entering this store. Another example is after I bought the color-changing handkerchief trick I asked the clerk if there is any story or banter that I could use to make it last a little longer or more interesting. He lectured me on how each magician has his own personal patter (I know that from spending hours online looking for tricks...I just wanted a story to use with it!) When I got home I found online where a magician says "How do you like my green and pink scarves?" Of course, they are blue and red, but when he finishes his trick they "turn" green and pink. No big deal, but makes the trick more interesting. There were other minor things which wouldn't have of themselves caused me to write this bad review, but all-in-all - I would suggest that you go online for your magic needs. From what I could tell, pretty much anything you need that they have could be found online. Why did I spend fifty bucks in there? I guess I felt under some pressure to get some tricks. It won't happen again, I assure you.
Terrible customer service over phone, Rude.... Arrogant... Would never do business with this company! – I called to ask this business if they carried an item and the price. The person answering the phone spent minutes asking other employees what that price was... after getting the price... I asked "and are you sure you have this item in stock?"... his reply was "What did I tell you before?" His rude and arrogant response initiated my asking to speak with the owner of the store and he again arrogantly replied "I am the owner".... with that I stated... "I wouldn't plan on being an owner too much longer with an attitude like you have" and terminated the phone call! ... Sad that when businesses become successful or they think that they are the only one to do business with when the internet and other resources are certainly abundant... they lose sight of what they went in business for in the first place.... "to serve" their product to the public! I certainly would not do business with this retail store....... EVER!
