Jenie, I'm sorry you had such a horrible experience here. However, I have never had anything but the most positive experiences here; the food is always delicious and you have many dining options....do you choose the Yakitori items and munch? Or do you want to go with the traditional food so common in Japan, such as ramen, udon, tempura, teriyaki, etc.? You plenty of options! I would steer clear of any of their sushi related items though...they are not the best; but then again, that is not what Kappo Honda is known for. Word of advice, for large parties, they will not split checks (they do accept credit/debit, but cash will make things easier) and if your group orders off the yakitori menu, it can get rather hard to figure out the final bill...a suggestion to solve that problem...bring blank sheets of paper and keep track of what you order on them, then when the bill comes, ask for a menu and tally up your portion.
- Pros: Wide menu of Yakitori as well as traditional Japanese dishes
- Cons: Long waits are the norm here unless you make a reservation
Izakaya in OC

Staff of KH: please do keep an eye out for Jenie as promised. She should be barred, if only for her appalling use of the English language. "I travel plenty in Asian" also, and I can tell you with my hand on my heart that if you want a real izakaya experience in Orange County, Kappo Honda's as close as I've found. Yes, you may need to wait (although you can make a reservation), but the wise diner will know that people willing to wait to get in to a restaurant generally indicates that there's something worth waiting for. And indeed, at KH you will find a casual, warm, unpretentious, prompt (yes, prompt), tasty, fun, consistent, atmospheric spot. Of course, I'd be happy for you to lend more weight to Jenie's review - it will keep the wait down for me next time I go!
AWESOMENESS

Eat here. Their food rocks. If you need instant service/ gratification, go to Yoshinoya. I hear their beef bowls are glorious this time of year. Oh & learn to type in proper....no, make that readable english if you're gonna write a review about how impatient you are. Maybe readers will take you seriously & not laugh at how poorly you express your disdain for something.
- Pros: Best Quail innards
- Cons: it's no Burger King
HORRIBLE SERVICE!!!
by jenie at Citysearch
I had waited about two hours to be seated and another 10 min after to even get my menu. The waiter himself was decent and the food was decent.
I travel plenty in Asian and tried many different cuisine before so I know my stuff.
After leaving a 7% tip out of pure pity I get chase down my this worker who demands more tip from me in which I refused only to have her tell me she will remember my face and I am not allowed to come back.
This i not a place where I would even recommend to my worse enemy. The wait is too long for average food. Many other god eateries in the O.C
- Pros: nice setting
- Cons: bad service, long wait
