So much fun!.
Prehistoric Pets is one of my very favorite places to go in all of Orange County. My son loves it and we have become regulars and go there at least once a week and the staff treats us like family!
The snakes, scorpions, lizards, etc... (i dont know all the names) always seem happy to see us as well. It is not very often in this day and age that you can visit a business that is still family owned and operated and I am proud for us to be regular guests and to help out our neighbors and recieve the benefits of their years and years of experience in the reptile industry.
My son loves to hold the ball pythons and pet the crested geckos, and every now and then when we are there we might get to see some eggs hatching or even touch a snake egg. A five dollar admission charge for the experience of a lifetime is nothing to ignore.
Kudos to you Prehistoric Pets for all you do! We will be by to see you later this afternoon.

A fun place to shop and an impressive reptile zoo.
I have been to this place twice now and having read some of the negative reviews beforehand I wasn't sure what to expect. Walking in there I was really impressed with the set-up of the store. As to some people commenting on the smell of the place: I was expecting a strong stench, but it really isn't any worse than what you would encounter at Petco in the reptile section.Considering they have hundreds of heated reptile cages of all sizes and a huge pont in the middle of a relatively small showroom it really is quiet good. It's simply what normally comes with keeping reptiles. I am not a herpetologist or pet expert at any rate but I didn't have the impression any animals were improperly cared for or even sick. The store was quiet busy both times and groups of children were sitting in little class rooms watching demonstrations by the staff. if anything I was a bit worried about the freeroaming tortoise getting pushed around by some of the children at one time. Not sure about what the return policy is (someone commented). All in all I was quiet impressed with their fun and entertaining approach to running a pet store. I am looking forward to taking my little daughter there some day soon, I'm sure she will have a great time.

******BEWARE*********POOR RETURN POLICY*******.
My family bought me a snake and a habitat starter kit which included a very informative snake care book. I read the book and quickly realized that I didn't have the time to properly care for the snake as I am an animal lover. My family picked up the snake on X-Mas Eve --- I returned the snake on Dec. 26. The first thing the owner said was, "the cage is dirty --- its used." I showed him the receipt that my family had just picked it up on X-Mas Eve --- the snake had not eaten yet! They ended up refusing to refund my money and would only issue me store credit after much protest. A terrible place to do business with --- not a reputable return policy!!!

they dont take very good care of the animal, the iguanas have mites on them, the snakes have mites, and the turtles have flies allover them..
i have bought a iguana there, she wasnt taken very good care of she came home with mites, we do vist there alot.they still have insects in the cages and most of the reptiles have mites, i understand its hard to clean the mites, but still you would think sense its a pet store they would atleast try and clean up the cages, they do feed the animals well though, my iguana was very tame, but i was sad to see the houseing that they have the bigger animals in.

This prehistoric shopping experience features reptiles and amphibians in their "natural" habitats..
In Short
More than just a pet store, Prehistoric Pets specializes in reptile and amphibian retail while creating a hands-on, zoo-like atmosphere for customers to get up close and personal with more than a thousand animals. A 2,000-gallon fish-filled pond in the center of the store and the 400-pound Galapagos tortoise display are highlights. For a small fee, children are allowed to feed the animals.
