Way too expensive. – I got a certificate for his salon for Xmas. My daughter paid 100 dollars for three of them. After my experience no one used theirs; a lot of money thrown away.
I went in on a saturday about a year ago. Jacques told me that I looked awful for a professional woman; that I dressed terribly and looked even worse. He told me he would dye my hair a reddish brown from the blonde that I've been wearing for years. He took a little off my hair and said I needed to grow it longer before he could do anything with it. The color did come out nice but it was not becoming on me and I immediately changed it back to blonde. Jacques is very talkative but as other's said, somewhat arrogant. He kept telling me about his high IQ and all his celebrity clients. I had to pay 22 dollars for a tip, based on 150 dollars that he would have charged in services. I don't have that kind of money. Hence, I have never gone back. Maybe if he were more understanding he would have a bigger clientele of ordinary people like me.
Why?! Why?! Why?! – I bought the sampler. Wish Chris the salesguy had given me time to read the small print. You have to pay an additional 18% of the exorbitant prices once there. So, yes an additional $28 tip that I did not want to give Jacque!!!!!!!!! Seriously have been angry for weeks. I hate my hair!!!!!!!!!!
Salon: You walk in and its empty. Old little square tvs in the corners. Gross "fur" chairs up front that need a serious washing. No receptionist. Mega old hair dryer and brush. Ew.
Jacque: smells, no deodorant, weird clothing. He is arrogant, tries to be funny and has inappropriate conversations (example: "I love Tahiti. Making love under the coconuts was the best... etc.") I met you 5 minutes ago. I don't know you! That is so gross!
Skills: It had taken me so long to grow out my hair. It was finally healthy and glossy. I told him specifically that I've had a hard time in finding someone who knows how to cut my very wavy hair. I told him that I wanted a trim and a few layers. I told him I'm low maintenance and I'm letting my hair rest after years of hair color and chemical straightening.
He cut off 5 inches, no joke! He took a total of 30 minutes to wash it quickly, hack it, and semi-blow dry it. He didn't want to leave his friend waiting on the chair with hair color. (She got bored and started to sweep the gross hair on the floor).
I told him that the type of haircut he gave me was too short and that all it would turn into is a poofball. He insisted that all women should show off their neck and chest as it's the most "beautiful part of a woman's body". He told me to use the straightener if I didn't like the volume. (Hello!!! I just told him I didn't want to do that!) I told him that all I'm using right now is mouse or hair cream. He said that's ridiculous and no sane woman should use those things. What??!
God, I too cried for days. More for not walking out without paying him a dime on what he and his stupid friend kept insisting was "beautiful hair". It makes me look old!!! I'm only 27. Even if the haircut had been nice, rule number one is doing what the client wants!! He did neither!!!

July 19, 2010 Hair Color Correction Service
I am writing to let you know the unhappy results of the hair color correction service you performed on me on July 19, 2010.
You were to lift my hair color from a dark black and redye it to a chestnut brown.
I informed you that I wanted to keep it long. You estimated the work at 2 hours for $185.
Instead, you chopped my 28” of healthy, long, glossy, wavy hair down to shoulder-length, over-processed it by bleaching, dyed it a red/orange and then, when I contacted you a few days later to let you know I was unhappy with the results and wanted it redone, you cash-cowed me by telling me it would cost $55 more to do so; after I protested, you then told me you would redo it but I had to leave your salon with wet hair.
How unprofessional, rude and arrogant of you in so many ways. It became obvious that you had over-chemicalized my hair when I saw, after returning home and pulling up my under-hair: underneath the top layers, my “color corrected” hair was now round black patches near the scalp, followed by red/orange/yellow hair. The bleach job was obviously inconsistent and uneven, and my hair sat like a pile of baled hay atop my head. However, I did not see this in your salon, as you only showed me the top-layer results.
Where I once had long, sleek, healthy, glossy tresses, I now have unhealthy, dry, brittle, unevenly colored strands (they are not highlights, as you implied) that hang lifelessly from my head in an unflattering shoulder cut for my olive complexion.
No one—friend, stranger, salon professional—had a good comment about your attempt at color correction, and colorists I consulted at five other salons told me that they would not have recommended bleaching my (or anyone else’s) hair because of chemical damage, and suggested a weave of select lifted and then chestnut re-dyed strands around my face to soften the original color.
Your attempt to extract yet more money from me to correct the botched color correction you performed indicates your indifference to my distress over my ruined hair (I wear my hair, not you) and it became clear to me that whatever salvaging I may have had left in my hair would be compromised to the point of no return by returning to you for yet more abuse and indifference.
To date, I have been forced to spend over $100 for products and services in attempts to reverse the damage to my tormented hair. At the state it’s in, it will be about 18-24 months before my hair grows to replace the straw on my head—and that’s just down to replace the shoulder length you chopped it down to.
As a result, I am demanding a refund for the unprofessional, amateur experiment you conducted on me. You can refund by credit card chargeback or by check. Please let me know which you will do with ten days of receipt of this clear communications to you

The last conversation I had with you I said to please wait a week. Come back and I would do what is necessary...sometimes it takes a couple of times...2 or 3 times to achieve the results. I gave a great discount.
It was devastating for me. I take care in my work. I love my clients and work. I take care of my people. I have 100s and100s of letters from clients. They adore me...and fly me around the country. I have changed their lives. Then to receive something like this...your letter...very bad..
I will not give you a refund, that's for sure .
I do like you. But how you treat me and say that I'm taking advantage of you...very unfair...and that I charge you too much.

Domani's response is all about him. Not a word for me, his client, no apology, no remorse, no concern. Very bad indeed.
ugh.. horrible – I have never before written a review, but my experience was so ridiculous that I feel everyone should know what they are in for.
I purchased the SpaSampler promo and was excited to try a new salon close to my home.
Conviently I was able to make an appointment the very next day. I went in to meet my stylist who was very nice. Unfortunately, she double booked, so my haircut took 2 hours and she didn't even completely style it. She was going back and forth between me and another client and we were both annoyed. I had been growing oput my hair and asked for a TRIM!!!! 3-4 inches later I had a haircut that is nice for someone, but nothing I asked for. I now have super short bangs and can no longer put my hair in a ponytail.. I am 24 and I know have a haircut my mother would have..
The killer part was Jacques himself. He kept talking to his staff like there were no clients in the tiny, outdated salon. He played a CD that continually skipped and didn't seem to care that it was making the experience ear splitting and kept me on edge. I mentioned that my friend just graduated and got her license as a hair stylist and he proceeded to talk crap on how she probably has an attitude and doesn't know anything and if she came to work with him they would "be amazed"... umm sure..
Completely unprofessional and I cried on my way home. I do not know how they stay in business...
Fun, Family, and Friends -- Nothing else could be better! – Thank goodness that I found someone like Jacques Doumain! His salon is convenient, and you feel welcomed as family the second you cross the threshold. I always leave smiling because I know that this man knows what he is doing, unlike so many others.
Coloring -- now here is someone who actually understands how to use/fix/create color in your hair, and how to make it look natural and modern, complimenting the times/trends.
Experience: Having worked on famous stars and news-noted people, and he shares with us what he has learned! He's the expert, and there is simply no arguing that. If you get real with him during the first consultation, I guarantee that you'll have many days/months of Great Hair Days!
Staff - Fun and fabulous. I watch them doing other clients while I'm there. There is a strong relationship in knowledge sharing--no competition between them--everyone works together as a team. They greet you and joke with you throughout your experience. I've never seen anyone leave unhappy in the three years I've been going there.
Salon - conveniently located in Santa Ana, with very easy access from the 22 and 5. Music is diverse so no one gets bored. Makes you feel welcomed as though you just walked into your home.
Products: Jacques has worked to develop several super styling products --- and they actually work! None of these false promises to provide lift and all you get is a sticky mess. Reasonably priced and last forever. They smell wonderful -- like a day at the spa.
Always Happy – When I first went to Jacques at the referral of a friend, I was impressed for numerous reasons. I had an initial consultation; he took me outside to see my skin-color and hair in the light (I had wanted some color work done). He asked about my lifestyle and got to know me; by doing this he explained that he wanted to accurately design a color and style suitable for my personality and lifestyle. That was over 10 years ago........I have never had a disappointing or unfortunate experience and would recommend him to everyone.

Where is THE DOG! – I have had my hair done by many! There has been no one better then THE DOG. His name was Paul. He did my hair color and cut. He did my husbands and 3 of my friends hair also. I would tell every one that asked, Paul did it! QUESTION? QUESTION ? QUESTION? Where is he? I can not get a hold of him. Sincerely, The Dogs, #1 fan.
