Oh No - Amazing Sushi. I am not a huge sushi fan but I can never turn down a trip to Taka O. I have always had great service and absolutely love their sushi. Just tonight, 6 out of 7 people around me ordered the Oh-No roll and they all loved it. I highly recommend the place. If it looks crowed the night you go, wait - it's worth it!

Sauce It. This place is probably not for true sushi lovers. It seemed as if everything was sauced. I saw some beautiful rolls and sushi being prepared, only to watch them grab one or more assorted bottles of secret sauce and douse it. What a shame. The sushi chefs were very friendly even though they must see about a zillion tourists every evening.

EXCELLENT SUSHI AND SERVICE. The Sushi Bar food and service is excellent; suggest the Ono Roll and the Hand Roll Shrimp Tempura, as well the Calamari Haystack, and all Sushi; allways can go back for more. I read the other reviews, this is NOT a take out restaurant this food is to be enjoyed fresh at the restaurant, only a moron orders take-out in a sushi restaurant, and this is a popular place 10-minutes wait is nothing; 1 hour wait is norm at most restaurants, especially in San Clemente, small town, small restaurants, alot of impatient people. End result is excellent food for those whole can chill and enjoy life and quit acting like you have to be somewhere else.Tako-O Sushi is EXCELLENT, CHILL OUT AND ENJOY.

Won't be going back!. My husband and I just moved to San Clemente and tonight I was craving sushi. I had driven by Taka O several times and since the place across the street was closed, I decided to give it as try. I regret this decision and will not be going back. First, I had to go back once I'd gotten home because two of the items I ordered weren't in my bag. When we finally sat down to our meal we were so disappointed! Our edamame was cold and unsalted, the miso was bland and tasted like instant, the rolls were not better than fast food quality and all the same.. california rolls with one ingredient added made up the supposedly spicy "cajun" roll..the only thing I'd recommend is the ginger! Next time I have sushi on the brain, and it happens a lot, I'll get in the car and drive down to "The Fish Joint" in Oceanside.

Bad Service and Worse Food. Although the restaurant was not busy, I waited 10-minutes to be noticed by the staff for seating. The hostess never did appear. The wait was not worth it! The food is by far the worst I have ever had. The sushi falls apart so you wind up with a mound of mush. The seafood casserole is a pre-processed shredded fish-type substance coated in grease and served over shrimp with the tails still on them. The Miso tastes like it came straight out of a box and had tepid water added to it. They don't even cover the dishes as they bring them to you for cleanliness and to preserve heat and flavor. Not that these are flavors I'd want to preserve. The appetizers are served moments before the meal, which is served at the same time as the salad and fruit. The check comes as you take your first bites and they do not bring you change but asume it is a tip. They do not encourage you to take your left-overs with you, either. You have to ask for a take-out container which you have to fill yourself if you're lucky enough to get one. I had no problem abandoning my leftovers which I suspect they throw back into the cooker to be re-served to the next unfortunate, unsuspecting diner to walk through the door. Overpriced, poorly prepared, terribly served... I can't say enough as a warning. DO NOT GO TO TAK-O IN SAN CLEMENTE!! You will be incredibly disappointed if you do!

AWESOME!!!!!. This place is my hands down favorite for sushi! The Hummingbird special is to die for, the baked muscles are the best I've ever had and the tuna tataki appetizer is awesome! Worth the wait!!!
