boat parade fun!. after an incredible night of well lit christmas fun with the family and kids I felt compelled to write a positive review as a complement. what am i reading? the woman working the phone warned me to arrive 30 mins early and not only was i guided into a convenient parking space, i was empty handed on the way to check in! the young man taking care of my cooler was very sincere( he even threw ice in the thing) while my wife filled out the paperwork. i was attempting to supervise the 5 children who dove right in to the display of cookies, popcorn, hot cider, and all kinds of goodies.Total mess.Another funny man by the name of matt put life jackets on the quick to dissipear 12 and unders and all abord! the harbor was beautiful and the economy must be different in newport beach. what an extravagnt display. our landing coming in was not as smooth as i intended, but a young man with wild hair assisted us ashore only leaving all of our trash behind.i learned that the " how long does it take to get to catalina " and " on a threee hourr tourr" comment is a popular one lol. The time did go by too fast, but it was because i was enjoying the new 18 footer that turns on a time. it aint cheap but its beyond worth it. i almost wish i never found this site so i could keep it my secrete.overall i was very impressed with duffy and staff and they must have changed things up or mabye an attitude adjustment needs to be taken into consideration. Happy Holidays everyone!

Fun, fun, fun!!. I do not understand some of these other reviews. If it's too pricey--don't go!! I have rented these boats 5 or 6 times to entertain out of town guests, employees and customers. It is a fun, relaxing way to spend a couple hours, see the harbor and still be able to converse. I like going in the early evening when you can bring your wine and cheese and relax. It is an awesome thing to do around Christmas. A bit cold but if you're prepared with jackets the site of all those beautiful houses decorated for Christmas is worth it.

A little pricey, but the experience was worth it.. Just had this boat ride last Sunday for my wife's birthday. Tthe experience was unforgetable. The boat was easy to operate and clean throughout. Although it was a bit scary when we first took off from the dock due to heavy water traffic of the harbor, but I got used to it soon after. The sceneries, the breeze and sunlight were amazing. We spent 1.5 hours there and returned the boat right on time. I would say you should rent at least 2 hours since time flies really fast on the boat, you wouldn't realize it could be that quick. Staffs were friendly but they should spent a bit more time to complain safety and other information (since they don't explain much before kicking you out of the dock!) Also pay attention to the contract when you sign it, there ARE rules that would cost penalty. Also, get there a bit earlier if you are going on a weekend because parking is crazy there. There is not much parking spots near the pier as you have to park on the opposite side of the street where the beach is. If you are bring a lot of food and drink on-board, bring a little trolley with you since you will have to walk a long way from your car to the dock.

Afterall, besides the price was being a little bit high, if you have a party with a decent size, it should be one of the funnest thing you could ever do.

Not Friendly to "Out of Towners"!!!. Rented a boat for 1 1/2 hr. as a treat to relatives visiting from out of state. Packed a picnic lunch and was looking to a new experience with family. This was in February 2008, so the temperature was cool, although sunny. The ladies sat at the front of the boat and were cold due to the ocean breeze and we decided to flip just about a foot of the canopy to get some sun. As we pulled back into dock the young men working flipped the canopy back. The owner saw the situation and as we checked out we were charged an extra $50 for the infraction. He said, read "fine print" in the contract (the one signed for the rental), although we were not given a copy to take with you. Although we live outside of Newport Beach, there has been too many complaints from friends who also live outside of Newport Beach with this kind of treatment. This is the last draw, no more rentals at Newport Beach!!!

Great Fun But a Little Ragged Around The Edges. Being that this was my first trip around the harbor and was being treated by friends I have little to complain a bout. However, for such an upscale neighborhood I felt like I had just walked into a U-Haul office, until I heard the price. (Must pay in advance and too rich for my taste.). The bathrooms provided on site were absolutely horrible. There were dirty and there was trash strewn everywhere. The female members of our party would not even use them. Ok, that is the nasty stuff.

Once we got onto the pier the staff was extremely accommodating and friendly. The boats were clean and in good working order and the maps and instructions provided were excellent. It is truly an experience not to be missed if you can just get past the entrance.

I would definitely do it again on a very special occasion as the price, in my opinion, is too high. But the harbor is gorgeous and this is definitely the way to see it.
