Great seafood, great price!. I'm working in Costa Mesa on a project and I love visiting new restaurants. After exploring many of the restaurants near the South Coast mall I got an opportunity to visit the Bluewater Grill. Not only was the food great, but the prices were reasonable. I've been to McCormick and Schmidt and Scotts several times and the food there is outstanding, but it's also super pricey. Scott’s is the absolute best seafood in the area and worth the price, but for about half price off of what I've paid at Scott's I have had absolutely fantastic lobster and fresh fish entries from Bluewater grill. The atmosphere is a little more rustic, but the food is fantastic , it's by far my favorite restaurant in the area. If you want great seafood for a really good price, head to Bluewater Grill.…
GET PAST THE FISH SMELL AND NAUTICAL DECOR FOR A TREAT.
I have to admit, since I go to happy hour at least once a week somewhere in Newport, I have become a little bit of a food and wine snob. Bluewater Grill does not disappoint in either of those
categories.
FOOD: My friend and I ordered the Calamari and Tenderloin Tease. They were both amazing. So much so that we ordered the Tenderloin Tease a second time. It melted in my mouth. SIDENOTE: We ordered the same thing at The Bluewater in Irvine and it wasn't nearly as good.
DRINKS: The House Cabernet and Chardonnay were both delicious and the bartender pours a good glass. (It irritates me a bit when the bartender comes out with one of those wine measurers and a huge glass, pours the wine out of the measurer and it looks like I'm ready for a refill). Thankfully they pour a healthy glass of good wine.
SERVICE: The bar staff was attentive and very friendly.
ATMOSPHERE: This is the part where you need to plug your nose when you first walk in. Remember Bluewater is located on the water, which makes their seafood all the fresher, but it also makes it smell like fish. The smell dissipates as the olfactory system readjusts. Give it time. It's worth it. Also, the decor is a throw back to 60's and 70's nautical. It doesn't quite make it charming, but almost.
I will most definitely go back to Bluewater for Happy Hour.…
A Favorite. We had lunch on the patio, it was Great. The service was super, we were treated like a family member right away. The food was some of the best seafood we've found in So Cal. It was a great experience and we look forward to returning - OFTEN.…
Excellent. Love the food, decor, cannery village location. Great dining experience.
Great seafood. There's nothing like sitting on the water eating a bowl of their famous New England clam chowder and a fresh slice of marlin or swordfish. This is a great restuarant for any size budget. After you get done eating, you can take a walk around the marina and look at the fish and jelly fish swimming in the harbor.…
