Awful Service. My husband and I are visiting Newport from Beverly Hills for the weekend and had advanced reservations to this restaurant. I noticed that the water glass was dirty and kindly let my waiter know. (I have never complained about glassware or silverware at restaurants before!) To my surprise, he got angry! He didn't believe the glass was dirty and argued with me! When I asked that he replace it, he actually yelled back, "Why are you lying about this glass being dirty when it is NOT?!" He did this in front of everyone in my section of the restaurant and by the bar - and refused to replace it. When my husband and I stood up to walk out in shock, he continued saying that I was lying about the glass! For crying aloud, how hard could it be to just replace the glass! No managers came by to resolve the issue. Ridiculously poor service.
Worst Service every received at a Fine Dining.
The food was average. Over-priced.
The service was poor. The waitress did not come by once to ask how we were doing.
The ambience is OK. No real view.
There are better places for views.
I do not recommend. Go somewhere else!
Best Dining Experience!. I found this restaurant on city search when looking for a nice place to dine with my boyfriend. I wanted to find a place that was out of the ordinary and I definitely found it! The whole dining experience was perfect. The location on the beautiful Newport pier is classy and if you go during daylight hours I'm sure the view is spectacular. The service I received made me feel important & like the wait staff really enjoyed their jobs. We had at least three people serving us and being exceptionally attentive. I was even called by my name the whole evening because I had made reservations. The food was quite possibly the best seafood I have ever had. We had the abalone, which is expensive but to die for, also had the halibut and the sea scallops. Every bite was delicious. The souffle was also excellent & perfect to share. In addition, they had a solo acoustic guitarist who played an excellent, romantic, and very entertaining variety of songs. This is definitely not your everyday eatery, but if you are looking for a very special place this is it! I highly recommend this restaurant to everyone who enjoys seafood/steak & fine dining!!
BEST LAST MINUTE ROMANTIC RESTAURANT. This restaurant has great food and a great atmosphere. The service is phenominal and the bar and wine menu is superb. Nice place to have a romantic dinner while enjoying a wonderful view.
Poor Experience.
I felt compelled to create a citysearch membership just to share my bad experience at this restaurant. I ordered a rib eye medium rare to share with my gf, amongst other plates. This steak cost $50, which is normal for any high end steak house like Morton's, Maestros, RC, etc. I've been to them all.
The steak came out medium. I cut straight into the middle of the steak and ate a slice to evaluate. Both my gf and I thought it was way over-cooked. When the waiter came around and I told them there was something wrong, he was like, "oh, would you like us to cook it more?". I told them it was actually OVERcooked. So he takes the steak back, then comes back 5 min. later saying that the steak was cooked right at their level of med rare. Then he tries to convince me how much bl0od there is on the plate and that any more blo0d and it would be rare. ANY OTHER TOP steakhouse would have re-done the steak to my liking. Sometimes you over cook a steak! It happens, but don't argue with the customer by saying how much bl0od their is on the plate.
At the end of the meal, we only ate the center and left all the edges of the steak. So instead, they offer a free desert saying we noticed u weren't happy w/ the steak! No Duh!!! I told you that from the start!
Sometimes, the quailty of a top notch restaurant is only differentiated by how well they please the customer when the food or service is bad for some reason. I would not recommend to anyone that expects a high consistent level of food and service. I'm not the only one... read the next review.ead the next review.
Bad Experience. I was very disappointed in my experience at 21 Oceanfront. I call a couple weeks in advance to make my reservations. I told them I was celebrating my In-laws wedding anniversary and requested a booth. When we got to the restaurant we were seated at a table and nothing was done for their anniversary. Also I brought a bottle of wine that happen to be on the wine list and was told the corkage fee was half the price of the bottle. I thought a $170 corkage fee was outrageous. The food was average and the Filet had no flavor. The worst part was the service, the water was never filled, and I poured the wine and was having to get the attention of the waiters for various things. The mater de was talking to the hostess girl more then with the customers. Bad experience.
1st Class All The Way!. What a great experience we had at 21 Oceanfront. The Ocean View is ABSOLUTELY BREATHTAKING! The servers are so professional & friendly. The food.. I had the Osso Bucco & my boyfriend had the Kobe Beef. We shared an appetizer of Abalone. It's THE MOST DELICIOUS THING I'VE EVER EATEN!! Great wine too. We drank a bottle,k then stayed upstairs in The Dorymann's Inn Bed & Breakfast. The best are so comfy ^ the showers nice & strong! I've already booked my holiday party in the restaurants elegant wine cellar. Honestly it is PERFECTION.
ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL!!. Now that's how I deserve to be treated!! 21 Oceanfront makes EVERYONE feel like they're VIP, or a "celebrity". REALLY. See for yourself. We were so professionally attended to by everyone who worked there, from the moment we pulled up to Valet. Oh, and the servers are all CUTIES!! The food is So fresh. We had the Abalone, and some incredible wine.. and a choc/grand marnier SOUFFLE!! The Bed & Breakfast upstairs, Doryman's Inn, is adorable too. Made a night out of it. WOW!!
overpriced, view of parking lot, LOUSY food.
This place is SOOOOOOOO overpriced and over-hyped.
first of all, in the night, there is NO VIEW of water WHATSOEVER!
food is so overpriced and not enough either!
if you want to see bunch of old white people chumming, this is the place to be.
this is VERY expensive also.
total waste of money and time
DELICIOUS & ELEGANT. 21 Oceanfront is by far the greatest restaruant. The food is amazing & the view is the nicest!
