Weekend of fun!. I went to CP last weekend with a few friends, we had a really great time. It was Halloween weekend so they had a big Halloween event. The crowd was good, drinks were great and the music was music you can dance to. We all had a fun night and danced until they closed. I will come back another weekend for cocktails and dancing.

Best Monday Football Night to watch Football. This is the 2nd time Monday Football Night, we went to cp restaurant, we sat at the bar, watching the so big led screen, eating the delicious tataki roll (my favorite sushi roll),and some happy hour food. Highly recommended!

And if you like to watch sport, this is the great place you should try

Don't waste your time. Went there for happy hour for the first time not knowing what to expect. Parking was limited, therefore had to maneuver to an adjacent parking lot. First impression was that the atmosphere was dead, i.e., sterile with cracked concrete floors and glass everywhere. Sitting on the patio felt like being right on the street with views of rush hour traffic right in your face. The dim sum was marginal at best and the owner kept making a jackass out of himself by not letting the staff do their job. Not worth the effort.

The New Scene in Newport. We hadn’t been to CP since the remodel so we jumped in the car and drove the hill. Parking was free as always and the valet was very friendly. The restaurant was pretty crowded but we were promptly greeted at the door. We decided to sit at the bar; two place settings were immediately set up for us.

The interior of the restaurant was very modern. They had really opened up the floor plan with the remodel. The front of the building was all glass facing out towards PCH and the harbor. The patio was very large and looked comfortable. The bar was all wood with heating elements inset for shabu shabu, they also added five very large LCD TVs.

We started with yellowtail and salmon sashimi. The fish was beautiful and very fresh; I was surprised by the quality. For our main course, I ordered the orange chicken, and my date had the Szechwan chicken. The food was delivered family style each with a side of rice. The chicken was cooked perfectly with an excellent balance of spiciness and orange peel. The portions were also large, plenty for breakfast in the morning .

The vibe in the restaurant was awesome. The crowd was a more sophisticated crowd with a broad age range. There was a band playing cover songs until 10pm then they had a DJ go on. The DJ played all the popular club/lounge music along with some good house. We danced until midnight.

I was very impressed with the Saturday night production CP put on. I had grown tired of going out on the peninsula, there’s too much riffraff down there and it’s always an ordeal. Sutra is always a very expensive night and usually not very fun. CP is fitting a niche in Newport that has been long awaited. You can drink and dance until 1:30am unlike the other restaurants on PCH that close at midnight. There is plenty of seating inside and out, no table fee, no cover and our bill was very reasonable.

CHEERS! – Well done CP.
