I am shocked and saddened by the negative comments that I have read. I am one of several new members of the SOUTH SHORE YACHT CLUB which shares the Newport Beach Yacht club facility with the club of the same name.
I don't know anything about the Balboa beach club, but I agree that this might be a case of mistaken identity! I do not recognize the staff members mentioned in the negative posts either. I have had nothing but top notch service. The atmosphere is both elegant and cozy, the people are incredibly friendly and the service is awesome. They are accommodating and remember us by name. TAMMY is the BEST! (wait staff) If there is a better deal in town in regards to quality and price in terms of the restaurant and bar--I haven't seen it.
What a great change to quality service. Over the years, I've experienced good and bad service at most/all "clubs" in Newport Harbor. My recent few visits to NBYC have been a pleasant surprise. If I may point out... I'd like to see tipping (always included) as 15% not 18% and if service is above average - let it be MY option to add additional money. It KEEPS the service levels up as a top priority. Meal quality is awesome lately - keep it up. Do more with social activities and some community service, membership drive etc...
Please do not get married here. They promised the world to me and didn't deliver on my wedding date. I couldn't believe how bad they messed everything up on my wedding day I felt so helpless as everything kept going wrong. Food was wrong and undercooked we didn't get everything that we paid for flower package correct food etc... This place was absolutely terrible. Please do not go here to get married I felt so helpless as one thing after another thing kept going wrong my bride shouldn't cry on her wedding day it's as simple as that. YOU ruined a precious moment of ours Penny and I will never forgive you for that.
beware this place is horrible!!!. this place is a joke. they have no concept of ethical business practices. Stay away as they have been steadily losing members and employees due to their abuse of people and monies. we no longer go there due to the horrible ownership.They treat people like garbage and we are not impressed with the bad service we have gotten from LIZ . We were reciprocals who went in there weeekly. NO MORE now that we see how it is
Don't go to NBYC please read what they did to us.. My fiance and I decided to get married at the Neport Beach Yacht Club and the lady Penny was very nice. After getting a quote we decided to go for it and put down our deposit after one day we decided to go to another venue which offered a nicer setting for similar price. We notified Penny right away approx 36 hours after we put down our deposit. Once we notified Penny of this change WOW was there a change in our customer service not only was she short on the phone but she said I will look into this and see if we will be able to get your deposit back we never heard from her again. She handed off the phone to Leeson who called us back a hesitantly 5 hours later who said that we will not be getting our deposit back. I was very shocked that they would attempt to keep a deposit which was made 36 hours before, I would definitely understand if it was a few weeks and they lost business because of it but 36 hours. It just goes to show you that they are in the money business not the love business like they say they are before they get their hands on your money.
