For the "well-Heeled".. It seemed good and friendly until I read that a reviewer deemed this place for the "Well-Heeled". Count me out, my shoes have rubber soles. Too much of Newport has had to cater to the well-heeled,so much so that I look for the opposite, as long as the food is good and atmosphere is not in the stratosphere. Martha, why do you care where the well-heeled prance, or where they chose to rub elbows. You do Newport a disservice in such reviews. Whether you are trying to fit in or to satisfy your ego I do not care, but I chose not to get an elbow rub in your favorite spots. I'd rather find a good burger, or great crab dish, or before your time, some pounded abalone stead. Too many well-heeled wannabees have taken away that option.

Citysearch Editorial Review. This dining landmark sits next to the Newport Dunes launch ramp, where a patio seat affords a gorgeous view of the bay. Boat, walk, drive or bike up, grab an oceanfront table and take in the scene. Ritzy but casual, the glassed-in patio with a retractable roof creates a romantic atmosphere for the well-heeled crowd. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served and the popular Sunday champagne brunch is especially lively. Seafood choices are aplenty, ranging from lump crab avocado parfait and baked lobster cake to a much-celebrated seafood chowder, coconut shrimp and macadamia-crusted halibut. From the land there’s also pecan-crusted chicken, New Zealand lamb chops and roasted prime rib. For dessert--if you dare--try the oversized chocolate cake called Chocolate Thunder which serves four.

Best value on dinner menu!. Great menu, everything from seafood, salads, steaks to great Kobe Sliders!! The view is great and they have done a remodel of the restaurant and the name, now Back Bay Bistro. They have awesome martinis and a great happy hour menu. Watching the boat launch is entertaining!!!

waterfront dining. Formaly known as the Back Bay Cafe, this restaurant has been completely renovated and renamed "Back Bay Bistro"

Patio dining with retractable roof overlooking stunning views of the Bay. Upscale but casual.

They have done an incredible job, from the decor, the new menus and extensive new wine list.

This will know doubt be a "must go" for a great dining experience in Newport Beach.

From their great appetizers to Seafood to Steaks everything was great. Fantastic Bar with more great views. Also their popular brunch is still a favorite. Suggest reservations as the luncheon we attended was packed.

great view. We had a good experience, casual atmosphere, friendly ,and good service. The patio and view was great. The inside dining area does not have a view, but they certainly do not have plastic table cloths as one person wrote. ...glass tops with linen tablecloths and napkins, nice. The seafood chowder was awesome and the service was fast and friendly. Sunday brunch is great, great mashed potato martini and lots of champagne for a pretty good price.

Great location, so-so indoor ambiance. This restaurant/cafe has a great location, with a amazing view of the Newport Beach Back Bay. It also has a very large outdoor seating area, with heating lamps for when it's chilly. When I went for lunch (in January) it was a little to cold to sit outside, even with the heaters. The decor inside leaves A LOT to be desired. It was like a high school cafeteria. From the pictures on the wall and the plastic table cloths, I felt like I was back in the 80's. Also, the food was average at best. I had the chicken salad. If your going for a cocktail after work, it's great, otherwise choose something else for lunch. Service was extremely efficient. Parking is free when you get it validated by the restaurant.
