What People Are Saying About Bayside Restaurant

In Short – The lofty, fabric-draped ceiling hovers above a multitiered wine tower and huge central bar, creating a theatrical atmosphere out of this vast space. Patrons range from 20-somethings to octogenarians. Appetizers, such as crab cakes and tuna tartare, are offered alongside dishes like seared foie gras with butterflied quail. Game is a specialty, including venison loin and free-range rabbit. Chicken, steak and seafood dishes are also on the menu.

ONE OF MY FAVORTIES
by JenniferMc at Citysearch
As I've explained in other reviews, my friend and I go out for happy hour every week somewhere in Newport Beach. Bayside has the best happy hour BY FAR.
FOOD: I have thoroughly sampled their extensive happy hour menu and have been impressed by each item. My favorites are the exotic mushroom bruschetta, roasted red beets, fusilli carbonara, and cast iron seared quail (yes quail, on the happy hour menu). They are all delicious!!!!
DRINKS: The House Cabernet at Bayside is wonderful and very reasonably priced. My friend orders and loves their House Chardonnay. We've both tried their martinis and mixed drinks as well. Very tasty!
SERVICE: The bar staff at Bayside is phenomenal. Chris, Oscar and Paul are all very attentive and knowledgeable without being overbearing. They know just when to ask me if need anything else or if the food was to my liking.
ATMOSPHERE: The bar and surrounding tables are tastefully decorated in warm tones. The lighting is subtle with very high ceilings to allow one to feel comfortable without a 'dark-bar' feeling. The high ceilings also work wonderfully with the acoustics so couples can talk comfortably without feeling the need to yell. The piano player plays nightly, often joined by a bassist for a wonderful background of jazz and/or contemporary music.
If I could give Bayside more than five-stars I would.
Best Anniversay Dinner ever!
by ALEXGUNNCLARK at Citysearch
My hubby and I had outstanding experience here when we recently celebrated our one-year wedding anniversary. Everything tasted AMAZING and each meal had wonderful presentations.
At the waiters recommendation we also enjoyed a great bottle of champagne.
I would give 10 stars if I could.
Great great restaurant!
Really nice place and great food!

My sister works here so we had to try it. Sister or not, this place is excellent. We sat in the bar area and ordered tapas appetizers. This is the eay to go. You can try many things from the menu with out having to order just one big meal. From 5-7 pm nightly they are all piced 5.95. What a deal. We tried 7 of them. They were all SO good. The drinks were all so tasty as well. We plan on going back as soon as possible to try all the others. Highly recommended.
- Pros: Free valet, great bar menu, tasty food
- Cons: not for kids. you can bring them but it's not a place they would like.
GREAT FOR GROUPS AND GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE
by tchen1789 at Citysearch
Bayside is amazing for groups. I can't say enough about how awesome they were at serving us. The food was also amazing. My group went there for prom and we reserved the wine tower. It was very nice and formal. It fit our 38 person group perfectly. We had some problems with our limo so many of us were in bad moods when we got there. We got there an hour late but the servers understood and were great, they never rushed us! We were running late so they packed all 38 of our desserts individually. They really made it how we wanted it, taking each request and making it happen. I really recommend anyone going there, whether it's for big groups or a romantic date. I had a great time!
Best brunch in the area!

This restaurant is already very lovely and there is always some soothing jazz entertainment, but I went here for brunch the first time and was impressed. Only $24 for a 3 course brunch (with more than ample portions) and a bottomless glass of champagne. Service is attentive and the food is delicious. It is definitely a great way to spend your Sunday morning.
- Pros: Brunch, food in general, service
- Cons: None that I can think of
