My pool was built in early 70's and had
developed lots of rust spots from the rebar. Many of my neighbors had used Alan Smith and were happy with the outcome. I also checked with a neighbor who had used another company, and when I asked him if he would recommend his contractor, he said no way, and confessed that in hind-sight he wished he had gone with Alan Smith.
Alan personally came over and explained the process. He gave us plenty of information regarding the different finishes (plaster vs. quartz vs. pebble etc) so that we could make an informed decision. He had specific crews for the different phases of the project. For example one crew did the demolition and removal of the old plaster, another crew set new rebar, etc.
The project was completed in a timely manner (was just a week or so over his initial estimate primarily due to rain delays). We had email notifications prior to start of each phase. We asked Alan to also do the decking and stonework in the backyard. The progress speed and quality of the result was exceptional.
They are not the cheapest contractor, but unlike many others they don't pay their employees under the table and I was impressed by how quickly they had the plans drawn and approved by the city and all inspections including the final one went without a hitch. I would recommend this company.

This is the ONLY company we refer!. I have been in the pool and spa industry since 1996 and Alan Smith Pool Plastering is the only company we will put our neck on the line to recommend. It started back about 8 years ago when one of my customers in Brea went with Alan Smith Pool Plastering for a complete pool and spa remodel and backyard kitchen addition. My customer was entirely satisfied with the pool and spa but not with the tile used on the ourdoor kitchen. Can you believe Alan Smith removed the tile and replaced it with a new tile without charging my customer a penny more!! Since then, I'm sold and refer them to everyone and have them linked on our websites. I will gladly give referrals and references anytime to this company. crooks - bad service and poor follow through. I have to warn you that Alan Smith has a history of taking payment and bailing on you. Shoddy work and failure to stand behind their work is reason for concern. I'd ask a few people who have actually used them before locking yourself in. You will not be happy.

This is a very surprising review & causes us to question the intentions of the author. We have never taken a deposit without performing the work we were contracted to do. We have 100s of references & thank you letters from satisfied customers. It is because of this quality and integrity that we have been able to continue to grow even in this difficult economy. If this is from a real customer with a true concern, please contact our office so we can reconcile any issues that may have existed.

Using them again. In the middle of our second time with ASPP. Don't wast time on anyone else if you can. They're not cheap but you can't afford to cut corners and suffer if things don't turn out. This company has the experience and always does what they say they're going to do. I have referred three friends to them over the years and they feel the same as we do. You won't find a better company anywhere for this type of stuff !!!!!!!!
