Beautiful location and view. Great food and excellent service. I will definitely be back
I would like to recommend Ristorante Rumari to everyone. I tried different dishes on the menu and they were all very delicious!
Vote for them!. My family and I love this place! I wanted to encourage everyone to vote for them on Best of Citysearch.
VIVA ITALIANO in Laguna Beach!. My husband and I wondered in on a Wednesday evening just in time to watch the sunset over a bottle of wine. The food was the best Italian we have had since moving to SoCal about a year ago. Our server could not have been more charming or professional. He welcomed us warmly, we chatted about everything from food to his Italian roots. We will definitely be back soon and recommend it to anyone looking for true Italian cooking in Laguna Beach.
Tasty Italian Food. I love, love, love Rumari. I'm a sucker for great Italian food & bread. Rumari is definitely the place for that. I love their bread, it's so soft and fresh. This is very cute restaurant and pretty reasonable for the amount of food you get.
One of the true family restaurants left in california!.
How can you beat a truly Italian family ran restaurant!
One of the owners cooks your food! Who does that anymore? The mom and dad make the bread and Cannoli! The entire staff are very friendly and welcoming, feels like Cheers! Great wine list with a full bar and a romantic decor.
If you haven't tried rumari get down to Laguna asap, your missing out!
Great Italian food, wine & desert. I came to Rumari one year for my birthday (2 years ago) and had the best Italian dish ever. I'm hooked and have been coming back ever since. I love it so much I drive from Costa Mesa just to eat here. Everything is so good from the warm bread they bring you, the food and the wine. The desert (especially the cannoli) is to die for. I've had almost every dish, but my favorite is the Seard Ahi Tuna. When ever I eat here I feel like I'm family, the staff is very friendly & welcoming. I keep telling the Owner he needs to open another Rumari closer to Costa Mesa :)
DEEEE LISH!!!!!!.
I read the review of the couple that complained about Rumaris. I'm guessing these two spend alot of time complaining about alot of things. I'm a Laguna local that's in the industry and I've never had a bad experience here!!!! I go in frequently because the food is CONSISTENTLY great, which in my opinion is the most important. The daily fish specials are so yummy and the portions are huge!! The bartender never forgets my name and always has great wine suggestions, and the servers are knowledgable, friendly and uber efficient. Chef Vince has come out from the kichen to talk to me on a couple of occasions when I've been difficult and wanted something special, like the fresh cuttlefish he just got in last night!
Rumaris is a great place to take a date, or just sit at the bar and enjoy the comraderie of the other locals who know about this gem!!! And as far as the prices, I will say that this restaurant is not cheap. But it is also not comprimising the quality of ingredients or the portions provided just to have the same "$6 Appy Hour " menu everyone else in town is slinging . You'll still need 2 or 3 of theirs!! So if you love authentic Italian food, a great wine list and a family style welcome, this is the place!
(As a side note, the last time I was there the couple sitting next to me said they were staying at the Montage and the concierge had recommended Rumaris to them. I'm pretty sure the Montage concierge knows what they're talking about. It's kind of their job. . . .) :)
Authentic Sicilian Food, Great wine list, very knowledgeable and personalized service.
As a Laguna Beach resident, we have dined regularly at Resturante Rumari. Almost everything is homemade by the Crivello family. Antonio, a retired Sicilian fisherman, makes the bread fresh EVERY day. Mama Bina and Antonio make the canoli and tiramisu from the best ingredients. (including fresh marscapone). The fishes are our favorite dishes. The Ahi Picchio (seared ahi) is the house specialty and worth every bite. Vince's recipes are simple, flavorful, and a real experience.
We are also very picky about our espresso. Rumari's espresso machine is magic. Ask for a 'proper Italian espresso.' They will make it rich and with the tasty crema (foam) on top. it won't fill up the cup, but don't worry, this is how espresso is made in Sicily and it is MUCH tastier this way.
Sicilians also have a tradition of great after-dinner drinks. Try the Averna (herb based) or some Limoncella, if you like something a little sweeter.
My wife and I stopped reading the menu long ago. We just ask our waiter to have Vince choose the menu, and then we ask Max for a wine suggestion. We have NEVER been disappointed.
Rumari is a wonderful warm atmosphere filled with regulars and guests alike. It is a much a place for a nice home cooked meal as it is for a very special occasion. (We held our wedding rehearsal dinner there).
This is not a place to go for the standard fare of lasagna (although it is on the menu). However, for incredibly delicious and authentic Sicilian food with just a bit of local 'spice', this is an absolute must for anyone who enjoys good food in a warm, romantic, atmosphere.
