Its about the variety.... Had to write to counter the bogus bad reviews. I'm not in the restaurant business. I have learned to like sushi and I've had some good and bad. Todai HB is the original all-you can eat sushi. It IS better than Westminster. I've had both. Westminster is okay, but not as good as HB.

As far as price, think about it a minute. At menu'd sushi stores, you order 2 pc for $4...6-8 pc roll for $9. That should be enough if you're a 95-lb gal, but if you're a big American fella, you want at least twice that. Two rolls and 4 sushi will come to about $26.

HEY!! That's about what Todai costs!

You have to approach this place with a plan. Avoid the hot line. Not that the hot line isn't tasty, but you can get it for half the price. Lots of flavor and lots of fat. The sushi and rolls are what you want. You can get all sorts of different sushi's - salmon, tuna, roe, octopus, whitefish, and more - a blinding array of roll pieces - from basic California to Philly to Fried - and the standard assembled sushi's like spicy tuna. With this selection, you can sample a variety that would cost HUNDREDS of $$$$ if you ordered ala carte.

There are some less than perfect items - the eel isn't hot off the grill as it should be, but hey, this is an assembly line. If you like your eel served cold, Todai is perfectly good.

Overall, the fish is fresh, mainly because they have to replenish it so often.

Worth the price, especially in these times.

This enormous Japanese buffet attracts a diverse crowd for all-you-can-eat sushi and tempura.. In Short
The first Todai Restaurant debuted in 1985 in Santa Monica, Calif., and has since opened in locations across the U.S. and in Hong Kong. The restaurant, with seating for up to 500 people, features a 160-foot seafood buffet offering more than 40 kinds of sushi, all made fresh. The salad selection ranges from Caesar to seaweed to red potato salad. Hot entrees include sukiyaki, teriyaki chicken, sweet-and-sour pork and udon noodles.

I don't call it "SUSHI".. Too expensive. Sushi grade was terrible, I never had this bad sushi before. Other dishes are also yacky. I will never go back. If you want to go Todai, the one at Westminster mall one is much better.

Fantastic buffet at an affordable price. The variety is endless, but I've got to say, I cannot stay away from the lobster and crab legs, not to mention the shrimp cocktail. Have I said that it's all-you-can-eat? The sushi is fresh, the food is delicious, and the kids love the chocolate fondue fountain for dessert (dinner time). Although lunch is cheaper, there options are endless at dinner time. Try it out, it's my familys favorite restaurant.

My favorite Sushi Buffet. With everything from chicken teriyaki, to lobster and crab legs, to fresh fish such as yellow tail and tuna, the variety is endless! I go almost every weekend, and look forward to it each time. They even have a chocolate fountain with fresh fruit, many many desserts, and a delightful green tea ice cream. Talk about getting your moneys worth!
