Do not give this place your business. Worst service ever!!!.
I went to Jack's for the first time today, (12-24), because I wanted to do some last minute holiday shopping. I was in the market for a Tamrac camera bag and found this place on the internet.
I looked at a couple of the bags and asked the manager some questions about the bags and their features. He didn't seem to interested in helping me and admitted that he was not too familiar with the bags. The bags did not have price tags on them and when I asked the price, he was more concerned about which one I was going to purchase rather than answering my questions. I walked from the counter back to the bag rack and continued to look at the bags.
As he stood across the room from me, behind the counter, he saw me looking at my iPhone. Without seeing what was on my screen, he yelled, "You can't do that here!" I answered, "Do what?" He said, "You just can't come in here, look, leave and buy it on the internet." I told him that I was checking the reviews of the bag before I purchased it since I had planned initially on purchasing a smaller bag. He responded immediately by telling me to, "Get the f**k out of here" and continued with multiple expletives as I walked toward the door at which time he also called me an a@@hole. He used the "f" word at least four times before I reached the exit.
Now up to this point, I had not raised me voice or said one cross word to him or said anything that would have justified his inappropriate behavior. However, just before I walked out of the door, I paused, turned toward him, and replied, "You're an a@@hole and I'm going to leave you an appropriate review." (I couldn't help myself) I then walked out of the store and across the parking lot to the sidewalk where my car was parked.
He then ran out of the store after me, ran across the parking lot and said to me, "I dare you to say that again to me now we're out here." I looked at him and again said, "You're an a@@hole and you have lost my business."
Next, if you can believe it, he challenged me to a fight. I told him to go ahead and take the first swing. I think he looked at my size and realized that the offer was a losing proposition for him. Probably a good thing, I would have felt bad putting the old timer in the hospital on Christmas Eve. He then backed up and made a comment about my shaved head, which I thought was funny coming from a guy with a bad "come over" hairdo. He then tucked his tail between his legs and walked back into the store after realizing that his intimidation tactics did not work.
So, if you are looking for camera equipment, I would highly recommend wwwbhphotocom. I just bought about $5000 worth of Canon camera gear from them and it was all free shipping. The price on the 7D dropped twice since I bought it and all I had to do was email them and they gave me the difference both times.
Apparently Jack's has a "no return" policy. This makes sense since he can't compete with the internet. He doesn't let you check prices while you're there, pressures you to buy his overpriced merchandise, then once you find out you've been screwed you can't return your gear. No wonder why people check the net. If there is a "no return" policy, you want to do your homework before you get stuck with something you don't need. I actually was going to buy the bag today from Jack's. Now I'm going to buy the same bag from wwwbhphotocom and have shipped to my house for free. I might not have it for the holidays, but at least I know I will get good customer service if there is a problem.
I will never patronize this store again. The store has no website, hardly any inventory, high prices, a no-return policy, and a manager with an anger management problem who has a mouth that is going to get his own ass kicked someday.
Horrible customer service. I have gone to this store twice and will never return. Each time it took them 5 to 10 minutes to even aknowledge that we were in the store. On the first visit I made a sizable purchase - about $3,000, part of which was a canon point and shoot. This a present for my daughter. She decided she did not want the camera - it has never been out of the box so I took it back. They informed me that the store policy is not returns - this i not posted anywhere and when we purchased it we asked about returning if she did not like it and the answer was no problem!! They then said that they no longer carry that camera (purchased just one month earlier!).
terrible customer service.
I thought I'd support a local business by bringing my camera there to have it repaired. I specifically told them that I needed an estimate in writing for my insurance. In short, they charged me $20 for the estimate, didn't make any effort to call me when it came in; informed me that I wouldn't get it in writing; wouldn't give me the information so that I could call the repair shop for a copy of the estimate in writing; and denied everything that they promised to begin with. And I got an attitude to go with it all!
I will never go back to this place again. I will also tell everyone I know not to go there.
Great Camera Store. Very nice Camera store with competitive pricing. Done business with them for years. Very nice and extremely knowledgeable. Also, they rent lens and other stuff. Try out that new lens before your buy. Highly recommend a visit.
