In Short – Just as the electric guitar started gaining popularity in the '60s, so did this once-modest, now monumental music store chain, which has grown to become the country's largest retailer of musical instruments. The store is packed with merchandise hanging overhead, crowding the aisles and monopolizing the walls. Contrary to its name, it's not just about acoustic and electric guitars; it also serves the needs of keyboardists, drummers and horn players.
Pretty Good Place To Buy A Guitar

I like this particular Guitar Center. I bought a used Jackson DK2 there in the Summer of 2006. I still have it and it's a great guitar. I also bought some DiMarzio Evolution pickups there. They have a pretty good selection of used gear for anyone looking to buy a guitar priced right. The staff is reasonably knowledgable, and they keep the store very clean.
- Pros: good selection of guitars
Nothing special, everything spectacular

If you like watching pony-tailed metal heads wail on Ibanezes and PRSes (sorry Santana!), or if you are one of the abovementioned persons, then you'll find just what you're looking for at Guitar Center. Otherwise, you might like tinkering on the wide array of overpriced instruments and sliding a mid-range guitar off the racks into a private room to play the only songs you remember from those $50 an hour lessons you took in sixth grade (taught by one of the abovementioned metal heads): "Tequila Sunrise" and "Free Fallin.'" Evangelical Christian praise songs will also do.

Look Good:
Feel free to plug in any of the store's guitars and take them for a test drive. Just don't play "Stairway" or you'll look like a newbie.
