Not Ocean Front; It Fronts a Parking Lot. It's almost a mile to the Harbor or any "beach" from Hennessey’s, so "beachfront" is misleading. If you want to go there to have a pleasant dining experience, don't go when the bar is going off and your odds multiply. I've gone there and to the Fish Bucket (part of Hennessey's) next door lots of times and it’s always been great food/service, but most of the time it hasn't been party time either. Otherwise, Hennessey's is just that, a tavern. People go to drink a lot, of course be with friends and meet new ones, and I love to people watch, as some people drink way too much and it borderlines between amusing and scary. And some of the women dress along the same lines. The people tend to be friendly (servers even, but I meant customers)--that's the bonus I guess from being a "beachfront property" (ha ha) vs. an edgy city club. Go with no expectations, and you might have a good time. If you’re on a night out and you feel old at Hennessey’s (which shouldn’t happen b/c there’s a broad age range), there’s always the Renaissance nearby, which is more upscale and mature. Otherwise, not much nightlife here in DP.

Lousy service with an attitude. My friend and I went to Hennessey's for dinner. Becuase the drinks are so watered down she brings a sneaky Pete to make the drinks stronger...We wanted to have dinner and it was a beautiful night we decided to sit outside. It took several mins before we got waited on. My friend got her dinner, then it took me over 20 mins longer before I got mine and then it was over cooked. When I sent it back the waitress copped an attitude with us.The manager never came over to apologize or anything. This is the 2nd time we've been here and got lousy service. Seems they only want to wait on young guys instead of 2 old women. Hope this place gets better with their service or it's no more Hennessey's for us..Also this place is not on ocean property. You can't even see the water from here.

Good Food but.... This place has good food, but as one of the other reviews said their bartenders are lame. All the drinks are watered down and way over priced. I also noticed that the weekend nights are starting to get really "urban". It's one of those places where the girl to guy ratio is not in the guys favor if your single. Way too many guys, not enough girls.

One of Dana Point's most popular nightspots offers up pub grub and plenty of pints.. In Short
Hennessey's Dana Point location is on beach-front property and features a large, outdoor patio and cozy fire pits, making it a popular spot for casually dressed locals to kick back. Although not authentically Irish, the pub still manages to serve up some Irish specialties, including Shillelagh Shooters (Irish Cream and vodka), corned beef and cabbage and fish-and-chips. Billiards, darts and even a Texas Hold 'Em tournament entice.

Utterly disappointing. This could possibly be the worst bar I've ever been to. I went for St. Patty's Day and they charged a $10 cover and I still don't know what it was for--the pleasure of hanging out in a lame bar with flooded toilets and watered down drinks is my best guess. There was no music--except for in the bathroom and hip hop room--because hip hop is synonomous with St. Patrick's Day, right?

I've been there several time and have never been impressed. Look elsewhere for a fun time.

Fun Times. Great place to hang out...gotta try the blasters! Gets crowded around 11pm. Fire pits and bar outside.
