WHAT A FIND!. After driving by this cafe for ages, I finally had the opportunity to stop in for breakfast this morning. Just as sometimes you can immediately tell if a restaurant is going to be a bad experience and you should leave immediately, Side Street gave the feeling that I was in for a treat.

The breakfast menu is HUGE, and everything looked wonderful. After debating between the SOS and the Eggs Benedict, I took the E/B. Although my English muffin was a tad burnt, everything else made up for it. The eggs were poached perfectly. The homemade Hollandaise was rich but not too cloying, and had a bright note to it. The ham was amazing. It was REAL ham; not compressed like Denny's, and it was thick and flavourful. The house potatoes were tasty with accents of green bell pepper and onions. I left most of them on my plate, not because they weren't delicious, but I had way overused my calories and carbs for that meal.

Coffee was good, water was plentiful, and service was attentive and friendly. I'm going back next week ... maybe the SOS will be on my plate next time.

Great Breakfast!. They give you a lot of food and not a lot of dough. Fun and funky atmosphere. Water smelled a little funny though. Country fried steak was really a steak!!!

Best Omlette in the O.C.. Friendly staff, quick service and high turn-over rates ensure that waits aren't long even if the restaurant is packed...which is not uncommon in this retro eatery. love it. must try their turkey avacado omlette or their bacon avacado sourcream omlette! Yummy! 2 thumbs up for this one.

Stay home and make your own breakfast. We went to this place because of the reviews online but it was a complete disappointment from start to finish. It's really cramped but that would be okay if the food was good but when I received my food it was cold and I mean cold not cool and the potatoes had no flavor at all. My husband ordered lunch just a burger and it was burnt but I will say the fries had potential if they were served hot. The waitress was nice but not attentive it took me ten minutes to get her attention to have my food warmed up (in the microwave hello I can do that at home for free).

So it was not worth the 20 minute (at least) wait or the sur charge to pull out cash since they don't accept plastic.

yummmy. Omg, you have to eat here at least once. I was just here for the first time and i was raving about it to my friends. My boyfriend and I really loved the atmosphere. My food came out pretty quickly. I ordered an omlette with sidestreet potatoes. It was delicious. Great service & great food...highly recommended.

Family-run favorite serves country-style breakfasts with the comforts of home.. The Scene
Inviting green awnings and giant yellow umbrellas attract everyone from Harley owners to young Newport families. The small, jam-packed cafe has a homey environment, with mismatched tables and chairs and walls plastered with photos of family vacations, Little League teams and George Strait.

The Food
Side Street's bevy of breakfast options includes soul food, Mexican and traditional American favorites. Get a taste of everything with the Side Street Sampler, which comes with sourdough French toast, a giant, fluffy pancake, two eggs any style and hash brown potatoes. For soul-food lovers, the SOS offers ground beef and onion on a doughy homemade biscuit, smothered with gravy--served with eggs and potatoes. The bacon and avocado omelette is stuffed with an ample amount of avocado and full strips of bacon. Make sure to try fresh-squeezed juice varieties or rich hot chocolate with a mountain of whipped cream.
