Great, homey place.
First of all, I'm surprised a couple other's haven't had a good experience at the Haus.
This restaurant is very good, and very reasonable. This is not Ti Amo's or Cucina Alessa--it's terrific old-school Italian traditional, at 1990's prices.
If you'd like to go out for dinner, can't think of where to go that's reasonable, and not fast food--the Haus is the place to go.
Let's keep 'em in business. They are very popular, FYI. (Specials every night--posted on their website (Doria's Haus of Pizza.)
Favorites are: Linguini with nice, garlicky white wine clam sauce, panzerotti night (2-meals on 1-plate), and pizza. BTW, the pizza is very good. Perhaps the tastiest pizza cheese in OC. Fresh, yeasty, cheesy yumminess.
Rude manager. The manager, Holly, one Saturday night, made me, a paying, repeat customer, feel very unwelcome. She chewed out an employee named Aaron in front of me, for simply being friendly to me while I was outside waiting for my take-out pizza. He was simply asking a question and making me, a 60 year old, feel welcome and appreciated. In turn, he was taken to task by his manager, Holly, in front of me. When I asked her about it, she said, flatly, "I don't have to justify myself to you. This conversation is over.", and walked away. She needs to learn how to have fun and smile a bit.
WORST ITALIAN sketchy place in costa mesa.. THIS PLACE has the WORST!!! Service and they over charge you. Their daily "Specials " say one thing and they charge you normal price. STEER CLEAR of this place, unless you want to be attended to by bad attitude and overpay for your meal.
What were those two reviewers talking about?. Two previous reviewers rated only a single star. They must have this place confused with someplace else. One complained about their pizza not being cut all the way through. Holy mackerel.....I believe that everyone has had a pizza like that! No sweat....just finish the cut yourself! Nice people, good food, they have just outgrown their digs.
Good stuff!. I have been here many times, and not once was I disappointed. I have had their pastas and pizza. The pasta is not as good as Olive Gardens, nor is their Pizza as good as Round Table. However, for the price and the service, it is worth the trip.
Amazing pizza. this pizza was awsome!!!! hot, cheezy, flavorful, and generously topped!! the slices were cut all the way through and the slices were evenly cut. i totally recomment it to anyone, especially with a side of ranch!!
Homey and good. I live near and have eaten at Haus for years. I love their pizza. They put lots of toppings on their pizza and the wait staff are always really nice. It's casual and I always see neighbors. They support their community, so during little league or soccer season the back room can have a team or two filling it up. We should support small family owned businesses.
Yuk....
I paid $13.09 for the worse takeout pizza ever. First they didn't even take the time to cut it all the way. Only the top and the edges of the pizza were cut, not the bottom crust of the pizza. Talk about being lazy... They also didn't even come close to cutting the pizza symetrical. You ended up having one really small lop-sided halfway cut piece of greasy you know what. The kind of pizza I bought was called a house special (they don't have a supreme or anything like it) it was onions, mushrooms, sausage, and pepperoni. The box that the pizza came in was even cheap and flimsy. The pizza dough was also terrible. It tasted like instant dough from a jiffy box. If I lived closer to the pizza place I would of took the thing back I was so disappointed.
Don't eat here!
Very decent pizza, but nothing to write home about.. I found this list on CitySearch that said that Haus of Pizza was the number 1 pizza as chosen by the fans. So, since I work just 1 mile from them, I immediately drove down there for lunch. We ordered a small Pepperoni pizza. It arrived in 10 minutes or so. The service was very good and the place was not overly crowded. The pizza was what I like to call "Generic American" style. It is not thin crust like New York or Italian pizza and not deep dish like Sicilian or Chicago style. It was average thickness like Domino's or Pizza Hut. Now,the pizza was good. I might even say that it was very good, but after reading that it was the best pizza in the county, I was sorely dissapointed. If you want great New York Pizza, go to New York Upper Crust Pizza. For original, unique pizzas, go to California Pizza Kitchen. For great Italian PIzza, go to Roma D'Italia. I am still looking for great Chicago Pizza in Orange County.
YUMM!!.
Now, I'm no pizza connoisseur ... but when I ate a slice of thier pizza ... I died and went to heaven. 100% worth all the calories. Watch out for the big lines on weekend.
Did I forget to say YUMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!!!!
