The small tavern is elegant despite its divey exterior. Inside, a bartender mixes up stiff drinks for regulars while couples cozy up to warm heaters on the candlelit patio. Memphis' menu is more Southern-inspired than authentic Southern, but appetizers alone go well with cocktails. Start with Zuni frybread--a down-home pizza made of cornmeal and topped with roasted poblanos peppers, corn, jack cheese and creamy pesto sauce--or crispy Southern crab cakes with smoky tomato sauce. The California influence is evident in the blue-corn chicken salad made with cornmeal-crusted chicken breast and baby greens dressed in tangy lime vinaigrette.

Soooo good! Food is wonderful, staff is friendly, and it's a nice casual atmosphere. I ordered the special for lunch - Filet Mignon tacos. They were to die for! I'll definitely be coming back soon.

Memphis is right next to The Lab and easy to miss. It's been there forever. First thing they bring you is cornbread and it's delicious. They only have about 10 entrees but you can't go wrong with any of them. Prices are reasonable.

You could easily drive right past this place, but don't! It's a funky little place that will surprise you, because the food is great! This is some of the best southern food that we have found in OC, you'll love it!

Where to Sit:
Patio dining is romantic but chairs are very uncomfortable. For date night, opt for a cozy corner banquette.
What to Drink:
Wine starts at $6 a glass and glass selections are limited. Opt for the bevy of full bar options instead.
