Best Italian food in OC!!! I'm very happy to have found Sweet Basil Cafe. Good thing is they are open till 2am on fri, sat... love the ambiance as well :))

Sweet Basil Pizzeria Caf. ! The Meat Lasagna is pasta layers, lean ground beef, marinara sauce, ricotta, and mozzarella cheese. A side salad was added for $1.99. It was nice and hot with a rich, flavorful, meaty marinara sauce. It could use some more ricotta cheese in the layers though. But the pasta was properly cooked. Overall, this was an average dish, nothing really spectacular about it.

The Chicken Marsala Pasta is angel hair pasta topped with chicken breast and mushrooms in a marsala wine sauce. Marsala sauce was on the bland side but had lots of sliced mushrooms. I was forced to add lots of grated parmesan and crushed red pepper flakes to heighten the flavor. Chicken itself was cooked perfectly and was quite juicy. But again, this was an average dish as I had to readjust the flavors myself.

Great pasta dishes in a quiet atmosphere. This place is hidden in a random little costa mesa shopping plaza, so you'd never know that a great place for pasta is in there! My husband and I really enjoy going to Sweet Basil's for dinner, as they have great pasta in a quiet atmosphere. It's a hidden gem. What's even better is that we can even do pick up orders through Live on the Go, an online ordering servce, where they make the ordering process so easy, even special requests or ordering instructions, as well as some great deals every once in awhile. It's perfect!
