Did not have what I was looking for...went elsewhere.
I consider myself to be the ideal customer- when a sales person brings me out something, I usually end up buying it :) I was recently looking for a certain style of Mephisto shoe that is supposed to fit/feel amazing. After doing some research on the web, I discovered that Nordstrom had the exact pair I was looking for. I went into the store and to my dismay, they did not have my size. Considering I made the trek from Irvine to South Coast Plaza, I was not ready to leave the store empty handed. Well it appeared I had no choice- the sales person was very happy to let me know that they did not have my shoe size, nor did he offer to special order it, nor did he bring out alternative shoes I might like.
Feeling a little frustrated and determined to find the pair of shoes, I went directly to the Mephisto website and found out that a shoe store called Sole Comfort, in Newport Beach had the pair of shoes I was looking for. I called the store to confirm this, and 1 hour later, I was sitting in a beautiful boutique shoe store sipping complimentary coffee and munching on cookies. Not only did they have the exact shoe I was looking for, I walked out with 3 other pairs of shoes!
While Nordstrom is great for shopping and make-up, I feel that the personalized and intimate experience I had at Sole Comfort is unparalleled to the experience I had at Nordstrom.

Legendary service, shoes to die for and fashion-forward merchandise keep shoppers returning..
In Short
Founded as a Seattle shoe store in 1901, this popular chain is now known for manageably priced designer duds. Shoppers find a hint of sophistication in the store's white floors and pianists on baby grands. Unique departments include the Brass Plum juniors' section with Ruby Rox and Diesel, and Studio 121 for career-savvy women. A business-centric men's clothing department offers Ben Sherman suits, while relaxed styles from Marc Jacobs and Lacoste are in The Rail department.

Mixed Review.
The selection is always terrific as it is at every Nordstrom I've visited. Some staff are rather friendly but others are downright rude and borderline classist. One lady in particular in the lower level men's department followed us around the store staring at us, not asking us how she could help but merely leered at us as though to say "What are you doing here?" We left irate, did some more shopping outside the mall and surprise surprise upon re-entering into Nordstrom to get to my car in the adjacent lot, this same lady suddenly acts super friendly seeing us come back in with bags from the Gucci store. I guess now we were worthy of her attention. I was rather insulted and I probably won't go back.
I should probably also mention in the parking earlier that day, some lady got so impatient in her car, she actually got out of her car, walked over to mine, and started banging on my driver's side window hysterically to get us to move forward. People in that area seem to be either very rude or severely unhinged. That's probably the last I'll ever visit the OC.
