Plummers - Where Integrity Comes Last. We have bought several pieces of furniture for countless thousands of dollars from Plummers when we furnished our entire office. Several pieces have had problems. The cheap laminate comes off of the cabinets and we have had to glue it back on. But the HUGEST problem is that the drawers on the filing cabinets come open AT THE SAME TIME. We actually had one of our employee's children injured by the cabinet falling on her because when she opened one drawer in the cabinet, the other drawer came open, then the entire cabinet fell on the child. When we complained to the store and finally after an excessive amount of phone calls to get help, they came out and said that the drawers were "over filled" though there was still room to fit more files. More importantly I showed the rep that the drawers come open at the same time on all of their cabinets whether they are entirely empty or full, so his argument was entirely unbased. The rep was accusatory and argumentative and in the long run, they decided that we were lying about it, apparently. The rep insisted that he didn't think that this sort of thing could ever happen, even with the evidence staring him in the face. We did not ask for any retribution other than for the equipment that was crushed which amounted to about $90 dollars or so, but instead asked what they would decide to do about this. They did not replace the cabinets. They did not pay for the doctor bills for the child who was injured, and they did not replace the equipment. Needless to say, Plummers furniture is in our opinion and in our experience, poorly made and they apparently do not stand behind their workmanship. Nor do they seem to care about their customers. In our opinion, we would have been so much better off if we had just bought the cheapest furniture available at a low end discount store because the quality would have been the same if not better for a fraction of the price. Instead, we spent a large amount of money and were treated like opportunists and a liars.
