I had CPS for my car loan for 6
grueling years! First off, I was lied to by the place I purchased my car as my payments ended up higher than I wanted. They said, "Oh, CPS, will redo your loan after a year!" Wrong! They said they didn't do that. Then I had a problem with the due date, which was the 3rd and, being I only got paid every 2 wks. I didn't have enough money on one check to pay both them and my rent. I chose to pay my rent, therefore I was always 2 weeks late with my car payment. I called and asked if they could change my due date to the middle of the month so I wasn't always late and explained why! They said they couldn't do that either! I believe they purposely didn't want to so they could keep charging me late charges! Whenever I was late, they would call my house, work, and cell phone numerous times a week! I asked them not to call my work but they still did anyways. One month in 2007, when I was only 3 wks late, they called my boss and told her they were coming to get my car out of the company parking lot! I worked 27 miles from my home and had they actually done it, I would have been stranded! I told the receptionists at my work if they ever called again, to tell them I no longer worked there or was on vacation or something. Then they started calling my cell! How they got the number, I don't know as I only gave it out to close friends and family as I was on a minute plan!
They even had the audacity to call my brother in Tennessee (I live in Illinois) and harassed him about my payment! He was one of my references when I got the loan! When they did all this I had the loan half way paid! I usually paid my payment online as I wante to give them their money fast and was usually late a week or two. They charged a larger fee then any company I have ever dealt with online! The electric compnay only charges a $3.50 fee, my car insurance place, $5.00, Comast doesn't charge at all and neither does the phone company. CPS charged me $12.00 friggin dollars every month to give them their money faster! Plus the late charge which was $10. When I did take their phone calls, they were always rude, nasty, pushy and demanded I give them a post dated check. I told them I didn't have checking, jus a debit card and would pay them online a.s.a.p. They threatened to repo my car several times in 6 yrs. even tho I was never over a month late! Then when I did a free credit report, I saw they gave me a good rating! Go figure! I 3 times during those 6 yrs. they let me defer my December payment as a Christmas gift since I was a preferred customer. They said they would tack it onto the end of my loan. I assumed this meant they were extending my loan duration. My last actual payment on the car was suppose to be October 2011 but I still owed the 3 deferred payments, which they wanted all at once! (came to over $1000 ) I thought I would get to pay it off monthly as I had my regular payments. I finally paid that off in Jan.2012. I gave them the amount I normally would have those 3 months. The called and harrassed me several times. Then they claimed the car wasn't totally paid off because I owed them $60. in late fees! I told them I wasn't paying them since they wouldn't change my due date and there was nothing I could do about it. Then in April 2012, I noticed they waived the fees! I called their Cali office and the lady was really nice and said "your car is totally paid off and we will be sending you the title in a couple of weeks". Amazingly, I got it just before I got the notice about the class action suit! Of course, I signed up for it! I also told the lady that I WOULD NEVER RECCOMEND THEIR COMPANY TO ANYONE!
Model Custumer..still a problem!!. CPS is Crap!!! I have never missed a payment. I have 2 accounts that were purchased from Fireside Bank. I usually make my payments over the phone(Free for colorado residents)....frequently I have had to wait up to an hour on hold before speaking to a person. When you do finally reach someone they are ALWAYS rude. I have asked several time to speak with a supervisor and strangly enough there is never one on shift. Several times after making payments I have been charged a fee $12.00 and then the harassing phone calls start. I had to spend 30 min on the phone with them yelling and demanding payment on an account that was current. After they realized that they had made the mistake....Still no appoligy. Avoid CPS if at all possible.
Horrible customer treatment.
First of all, I never wanted CPS to manage my account, I was with Fireside bank and CPS purchased my account. This bank has HORRIBLE service, first time I called I had no information about my account being as I had never dealt with that bank before, the first person I talked to tried to get me off the phone telling me to get my account information and call back, after telling him I simply did not have it and if he could look it up he had a frustrating sigh and looking it up and told me I need to make sure I have this info before I call in as if I had anyway of ever having it.
Anytime I have called they have just had horrible service after horrible service, they really like to piss off their customers. I paid off my account yesterday, I was quoted $1,930.70, they charged me $1,972.70, only a $42 difference so no big deal but I tried calling them about this and my GOD the lady I talked to just didn't want to deal with me apparently. First after making it through their automated system which said about four times program could not be completed before I finally reached someone she came on the line and said please hold and instantly put me on hold, still no big deal.
I finally reached her I tried to explain that I was quoted one price and charged another, instantly she got defensive saying she's just quoting what the screen says and said if I was overcharged she's sure I'll get refunded and tried to get me off the phone. I asked if she knew when or anything and she continuously said she does not know, how can someone not have any idea on a refund for an amount I shouldn't have been charged? She said she'd have a manager call me and tried to hang up not even confirming my number with me or anything, this is just a horrible service and for all I care they can keep the $42... I'm just happy I'll never have to call them after I get my title...
If your'e a model custumer then no problem. I have had a ruff year. i have fallen behind 3 months in payment. I worked it out with CPS and still have my automobile. Fair is Fair. Nothing in this world is free. So come on people, it's not the companies fault that things get ruff.

I had a credit score of 465 and needed a car badly. I have an excellent job that pays well but my credit sucked due to medical bills Went to 10 different car lots and not one could finance me. I live in NJ so i finally went to a crappy dealership and got financed from CPS at 22% with 3000 down for a 2004 Jeep liberty sport. They loaned me $9965 dollars for the balance. My payments were $369 a month for 3 years. I could have paid cash for the car but I needed to establish credit. I knew the interest was high so I took it.
LIsten to all you crying babies.........................Pay your bills...If you cant make your payments thats your fault...Do not blame CPS..You do not finance a car u know u cant afford. I would harass you too if you owed me money. LOst your job TUFF It doesnt negate your bills! Family member dies TUff doesnt negate your bills!
You see I paid my bills on time. No harassing calls ...nothing. When my last payment was do i paid it ON TIME and they sent me my title within a week.
Somehow people think that Banks owe them something Just like the house lenders that got us into this economic mess.
LISTEN TO ME EVERYBODY I HAD KNOW PROBLEM WITH CPS BECAUSE I PAID MY BILLS ON TIME. They are a buisness they owe you nothing.
Borrow money from you grandmother and dont pay her back see what happens to your family at Christmas!!!
For those who can pay their bills on time and have very bad credit..............CPS is an honest and fair company.
My credit went from 465 to 629 in three years of paying CPS ON TIME!

Super Pissed. I very angry right now I haven't recieved statements for the passed 3 months. I have been making paments on my car loan for the amount of $530.00 for the passed 3 months my I owe 13,870.00 at the beginning. Making these three payments my balance went down to $13,720.00. I don'nt know how these people sleep at night. I have been making my payments on time and and unemployed.
SCAM ALERT!!!!!!!!. They are absolute crook's!!! I would walk before I used them to finance anything!!! I called in for my pay off, paid it and thought I was done. 2 months later they appear at my door to repo my car. said I missed my last payment . I tried to fax them the info to proove I paid, was verbally abused as well as my co-workers and neighbors.whom they called every day sometimes 3 or 4 times.I tried calling them repeatedly only to be verbally abused and insulted. run dont walk away from them....
A TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE. I PURCHASED A FORD WINDSTAR THROUGH THIS COMPANY AND LOST MY JOB HOWEVER, I HAD BEEN PAYING MY NOTE AND THE TRANSMISSION WENT OUT ON THIS VAN UPON GETTING MY INCOME TAXES I PROCEEDED TO GET THE VEHICLE FIXED WHICH COST ME 1800 DOLLARS THE COMPANY WAS HOUNDING ME BECAUSE I HAD FALLEN TWO PAYMENTS BEHIND HOWEVER I SPOKE TO A REPRESENTATIVE AND TOLD THEM THAT MY UNEMPLOYMENT WAS SOON TO BE AWARDED AND IT WAS ABOUT FOUR DAYS LATER WELL AFTER I GOT HE CAR OUT OF THE SHOP THE COMPANY CAME AND REPOSESSED THE CAR AFTER IT WAS FIXED AND MY UNEMPLOYMENT HAD BEEN APPROVED AND NOW THEY ARE EXPECTING A PAYMENT OF 8000 DOLLARS AFTER SELLING THE CAR FOR $3000,00 THEY ARE RUDE AND i HOPE TO NEVER HAVE TO USE THEM AGAIN
Terrible Company Ghetto Customer Service Reps.
My wife secured financing with this company after being rejected by other lenders for having a "low score" at a dealership in 2005.
We've had 2 payments since 2005 go approx. 2 weeks late. Even through the tough economic downfall of the last few years, and I got laid off in 2009.
We traded the vehicle in earlier this month (November 2010) and I get a call today from some ghetto talking woman demanding to know where my wife is and how to contact her. Saying: "Have her to call us" several times.
I explained that we traded the vehicle in (bought a brand new car through Ford) and that there is nothing to really discuss. The woman then says: "I guess you don't care about your wife's credit" and "Why is she avoiding us" and even after providing the dealership phone #'s this woman there also said "That's not the number" as if she knew.
Then when I demanded a supervisor I was told "Have her to call us" several times and then I was disconnected.
Please, for your own sake. Do not get a loan with this company. I don't care if you have to walk. Don't do it!
Horrible Company. I obtained a loan from this company in 2006. At the time it was my only option since I had horrible credit. I pay 433 a month for my vehicle. Whenever I have called to ask for a deferrment because I knew that I would be late, I was told that I had to let the account go past due. Even if the account had gone past due, I would get told that I could still not get a deferrment and that I just better try to make a payment. I have called several times and spoken to representatives who have no business answering telephones. Very unprofessional and incompetent. I have gotten approved from my credit union to refinance my vehicle at a much lower payment and interest rate. I thank god that I will not have to deal with this company again and would not refer my worst enemy to this company.
