Australian tchotchkes and brews give this quintessentially American restaurant a distinctive Down Under flavor..
In Short
Boomerangs, Aussie flags, kangaroo portraits and faux aboriginal art honor the homeland's wilderness, but Outback delivers a polished version of rusticity with varnished blond-wood booths with matching wainscoting and casually uniformed waitstaff. Besides more than a half-dozen cuts of steak, diners can pick from large-portioned entrees like ribs, chops and shrimp or chicken "on the barbie." The Bloomin' Onion, a large onion dipped in batter and deep-fried, is an appetizer with a following.
more than steak. I don't eat red meat anymore, so I naturally don't love the Outback as much as I used to when I could sink my teeth into a juicy steak without any moral reservations. Speaking of reservations, better call ahead if you're coming in on a Saturday night. Mega-church lets out at about 7:30 and then the mega-churchgoers love to drive their Suburbans o'er and order meat. Anyways, the Outback is really good. The salads have fresh veggies, the bread is both brown and awesome, and they sure do know to cook!
Outback for FIsh?. Gotta tell ya folks, they may be listed as a steakhouse but the way they cook fish is amazing. Not a lot of fancy, but like the ads say "just done right". Done perfect everytime I go there. My girlfriend is a dyed in the wool fish hater. Won't touch the stuff! Hated it all her life. SHE eats fish at Outback.
