Horrible food, small portions, high prices, poor service. My family and I started eating at Chinez ever since they opened. Since then, I have observed the following:

prices have continued to rise, quality of food has declined, service is slow with few wait staff, and more importantly, the portions have shrunk. Recently, we had a party of 3 adults and 1 child. We ordered mu shu pork. The waiter brought 2 portions to the table. We ended up ordering 2 more dishes just so everyone could have enough to eat. Over the years, we have spent a lot of money at this restaurant. NO MORE. There are plenty of other excellent Chinese restaurants in the area that value your business. AVOID!

food ok service bad. I ordered chicken and it was "fat" it contained yellow things in it and it tasted weird. The server was not friendly, I didnt take the chance to complain or create a scene. The water which was served was not clean and had small black particles in it. I usually like white steam rice and they brought fried rice without asking. I ordered hot and sour soup and they took it away before I finished. I am not the kind to complain or request things to be in a certain way, those things are common sense. I am surprised the service or food were not good.

What a good chinese food there!!. I am an asian woman leaving in LA over 10 years. I love Chinze food so much cause can't find such pure and ideal asian food overthere, especially, fried rice that I love it.

How does that guys knows that "certainly not real chefs who know about Asian cuisine"? Maybe I am not an asian!!! Anyway, I am highly recommended to enjoy food at this restaurant.

Gone Way Down Hill! Food Poorly Prepared. I have eaten at this restaurant quite a bit over the years. I'm finished! The quality of the food has gone consistently downhill. The meals are now very poorly prepared. Seems like everything I have ordered lately has been overly salty and just not tasty. They have obviously hired and trained low-end hacker food prep guys (certainly not real chefs who know about Asian cuisine) to cut corners. It really is apparent that the folks in the kitchen don't know what they are doing. I have crossed this place off my list. I don't want to pay to be disappointed any longer.

LOVE IT!!. I just recently moved to Irvine from Las Vegas, looking for a good Chinese restaurant and then I found Chinez. I tried a few items from their special menu, it was awesome!!! and the orange chicken was really good. I was reading some of the reviews and one of the guy said he was mad because the hostess was asking him to pay the money that he owes to the restaurant, (what's wrong with paying if you do owe them the money, that's funny)? regardless, I will go back to Chinez for sure.

NOT GOOD. After seeing some of the rave reviews, I decided to give it a try. I had the orange chicken and it was terrible. Bland, poorly-cut chicken pieces, and goopy sauce. If they can't get a staple like orange chicken right, I don't trust them with anything else. I will not be back.

Sad and Disappointed. What a sad day. I have been coming to Chinez for years. It was definitely one of my favorite restaurants and ate there once a month. I spread the word to friends and co-workers about how great they were and now they all eat there. They've told their friends and so on. I've been out of the country on business for awhile now, but before I left.. I stopped in and ordered take out. Why, then, is it a sad day?

My first day back and what do I do? I leave work early, drive over to the restaurant .. excited to order my Pepper Steak, Hot Braised Shrimp and cream-cheese wontons. I walk in, grab a menu, see the host - always a friendly face (I thought) - and say "I have been looking forward to"...

"You owe us money", she says .. stopping me mid-sentence. She then goes behind the counter, looks for some old receipt and tells me that I didn't pay last time - that her husband said I owed them. I was stunned.

I have never owed anyone and would never THINK to walk out of some place without paying - let alone my favorite restaurant. I gave them my card, of course and.. just .. stood there .. speechless.

Talk about poor customer service. I was livid. I told her I would not be coming back, but.. I doubt they care. The funny thing is.. I was going to spend double tonight what I "owed" them; I was really missing Chinez.

I paid and walked out. I just.. I can't believe that. "You owe us". Wow.

Are they good? Yes, of course - one of the best. It's really a shame, then, that they put a $36 mistake on their part above loyalty. If they had been polite about it, maybe even acknowledged that it might not be true or that the husband goofed, I would have paid and placed a $60+ order - and my girlfriend and I would have been back Saturday to order, again.

Enjoy their food, but watch your bill. I guess we're just a transaction.

best chinese restaurant in California. Chinez chinese restaurant is a good place to eats, food are so good, they have a new speacial menu, some new item is so good, the honey chicken and the wok grilled spare ribs are so yummy, service is good, friendly food servier, nice and warm decor design, this place is always busy, whenever me and my wife go, they alway have line waiting for togo and waiting for table, if food is not good, why always busy.

Good selection of unique combinations overcome the few glitches. This restaurant has a very good selection of menu items. Inventive combinations; not your typical Chinese fare. Good selection of hot and spicy meals too. The food is uniformly delicious. Sometimes, dishes come out at different times rather than being served all at once so you end up eating before your other guests (what is it about Asian restaurants that they can't seem to time the cooking to serve everyone at the table at the same time?!)

Nice decor, but some tables are a little bright (what is it about Asian restaurants with the bright lighting?!). Tables along the window are spaced so tight you can barely get between them without putting your butt on someone else's table. Great if you want to listen in on your neigbor's conversation! Ask for a booth or a table away from the window, or else consider take-out.

The good food makes up for the few shortcomings.
