Best Thai Food Around!. Thai Kitchen has the best Thai food around. I consider myself fairly experienced when it comes to Thai food and I have never had a bad dish at Thai Kitchen since I started going there over a decade ago. (The wine list could be better, but I have never found good wine at a Thai restaurant.) Go for the great food, light/family atmosphere and friendly service.
OVERALL: FANTASTIC! :D. Thai Kitchen is inexpensive. The food is great and flavorful. Wide menu selection. The waitresses are so kind and the service is very quick. I've eaten in many Thai restruants berfore this is BY FAR the best one. Awesome location. Family Friendly. If there was an option i'd make it 6 stars!!!
Bad Food, Bad Service and Expensive. We wanted to get seafood padseeyou and we asked the waitress how much it will be since it was not in the menu. The waitress told us that it will be around $12 so we ordered seafood padseeyou and seafood fried rice. When we got the bill it was $18 per dish which meant that they charged us $7 more for seafood. We got seafood instead of meat but they charged $7 more per dish so we ended paying $14 more than the regular dish. The dishes were already overpriced since we went to another Thai restaurant and we got seafood padseeyou for $9. We complained that the price was not what the waitress told us, the owner was very unfriendly and told us to pay the full price. I would not mind paying so much more if the food was great but the food was very bad and the seafood that they put only little bit of seafood. How can they charge us that much and it was not even stated in the menu! Overall, the food was over-priced and the owner was very mean!
Very good food, very nice service. This has become one of our favourite local restaurants - my husband's favourite cuisines are Indian and Thai. The owner is extremely nice and friendly to everyone, and it's clear that she has a lot of repeat customers. The food is very good and in our experience, one portion is enough for two adults. A few times we have experienced a long wait for the food, but generally this is not the case. They like little kids, although it gets very messy and sticky with the rice. We can definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone.
GOOD FOOD AND AMBIENCE. I love the people who own it, good food, good ambience, nice taste. good service. very prompt.same taste every time you are there.
If this were anyplace but a strip mall, I would give it 5 stars.
I have been a diner at the Thai Kitchen for probably over 12 years, I know the people who own it. They are very concerned about service and good food. I go there 2-3 times per month because the food is so good, and at lunch, reasonably priced.
I must comment on the service problem that one diner mentioned. I will not argue that this couple got bad service on the night in question, as I was not there, but from my 100-200 times eating there, I can tell you that interracial couples/groups are the norm on any given night. This is especially true during lunch as Thai Kitchen is a popular spot for the surrounding business people.
Back to the food: I personally like my food hot; my wife likes it mild. We love the soups, the spring rolls, the mee krob and all of the curried dishes. One of my favorites is the long green beans with chicken or beef. I don't happen to like the white sauce, so they substitute the soy-based sauce. Perfect!
One drawback for me in Thai places is that there aren't many Thai desserts that I like. That is true of the Thai Kitchen. I'm overweight anyway. Bon Apetit!
Racism and Bad Thai Tea. Went to the restaurant on a tuesday night and deeply regreted our visit. This is the worst thai place we have ever gone too. The service was sloooow and impersonal. After an hour and some change, we began to feel as if they did not WANT to serve us, especially when we noticed that everyone else around us (including couples that had been seated after us) was eating, getting refills on their crappy water, etc. While the place has cool, private booths...the atmosphere was still lacking...I've pretty much deduced most of our experience to some sort of racial ignorance...I'm not one too pull the race card, but I strongly believe that they did not want us (an interacial couple) in their restaurant. they were fully aware of their horrible, unattentive service and never once offered an apology to us when we tastefully expressed our dissatisfation. Do not eat here! It was a horrible experience!
Okay food. I was having a huge craving for green papaya salad and made the mistake of getting it here. It was the worst I've ever had. HOWEVER, I think most non-South East Asians wouldn't think about ordering this anyway so it might not be a concern for many. I also ordered the chicken coconut curry soup. Decent...a little too sour (and I love sour!)...I could probably make it better at home. Overall verdict: okay food...not great Thai though!
Authentic Thai food in Irvine Tustin/Irvine areas.
Great authentic Thai food!
Little pricey, but worth it if you want to have a decent Thai food compared to the other Thai restaurants in Tustin /Irvine areas. But make use of their coupons that come in the mails once a while.
My recommendations: Pineapple Fried Rice, Panang/Red/Yellow Chicken Curries, Thai Iced Tea.
I also love Thai Nokorn in Garden Grove for their authentic Thai food but at very reasonable rates and a warm atmosphere. Oh & never go to Thai Spice at the Tustin Market place. The food is horrible I mean really horrible! You will never want to eat Thai food again!
