My fiance, Marty, and I had gone to the
Rose Canyon Cantina & Grill for dinner on Sunday, August 19, 2012. I have only been to the Cantina once before and the service coupled with the outdoor ambiance made the restaurant one I wanted to go again and again! Unfortunately, after tonight I will not go there again.
There wasn’t any room outside to enjoy our dinner so we opted to dine in by the bar and watch the football game. As we looked around and noticed the other patrons we kept on being drawn to the overly loud and obnoxious older blonde (chanting Amber, Amber) at the bar surrounded by four younger males eating and drinking. They were obviously having a great time. It was hard not to notice them but at the same time we weren’t bothered by them either; we just laughed and kept thinking “COUGAR”! We ordered our food and drinks. Marty had ordered a Cabo Wabo Rita and I a beer. Once I tasted his wonderfully blue drink, I had to have one.
As soon as JD had brought my electric blue glass of yumminess to me I took a huge sip thru the straw and got a mouth full of SALT! Marty had taken a sip, confirmed that it didn’t taste like his, was extremely salty and not made correctly. The drink was returned and told to remake it but I had changed my mind and went to tell JD. As I approached the bar where JD was standing, I watched this same older blonde take my drink, pour it into a new empty glass, having to stop pouring once the lime fell from my drink into the new glass. She told JD to pick out the lime. He had difficulties so blondie stuck her fingers in and fished out the lime then continued to pour the rest of the drink into the glass. With a finishing touch, she threw the same lime on top of the blueness and ordering JD to “give that to her”. Having no idea I was behind them, they were started when I had said, “Oh, no way! I don’t want that! The reason I didn’t want it was because it tasted like salt and all you did was pour it into another glass and put your fingers in it. No, thank you, I will just take a beer”.
JD delivered my beer and I asked him if blondie was the manager and he told me she was the owner and gave me her name, Melanie Cox. I told him to please let Melanie know that I would never be back to this establishment and then proceeded to tell him that he should have known not to put his fingers in a patron’s drink. His response was he had to do what his boss told him to do.
The owner never came up and explained why she would give me the SAME drink I returned because it was loaded with salt or apologies for trying to pull a fast one. I am curious as to why she would command her employee to put his fingers in the drink along with her fingers when it is against health code. As a matter of fact, she was nowhere to be found after JD had delivered my message. What else goes on at this Catina?......Now, many of us have worked in the food industry as teenagers or young adults and many of us may have seen some questionable things being done to food but to be an older adult, owning a restaurant, commanding her employee to stick his unwashed fingers along with her unwashed fingers in a drink goodness knows what goes on in the kitchen and that is behind closed doors!!!
So ladies and gentlemen, before you spend your hard earned money at the Rose Canyon Catina & Grill you might want to think about whose fingers will be your food and drink.
Dont bother!!!!!!!. This establishment doesn't deserve even a single star! Had reservations for Mothers Day and two and a half hours later we got our food. The food was cold and mediocre at best. Might as well go to the El Torito just over the road in RSM for a much better dining experience. At the hour and a hlaf mark I tried to speak with the manager but was told by the hostess that she is not seeing anybody else for the day that he is "done". We were not the only party with similar experiences. Dine at your own risk.
Your Money is Not Good Enough at Rose Canyon Cantina & Grill. Beware of the rude son who is sick and tired of working for Rose Canyon Cantina & Grill, and owner who expects her customers to tolerate her son's behavior. Her very words were..."I don't care if you don't come back." She thought that I would tolerate her son's behavior after she revealed to me that the person who I was complaining about was her son. I would expect any parent who's child was being rude would discipline a bad behavior, but apparently not someone who thinks they get enough business.
great atmoshpere but....... was there with a party of ten for a birthday party. when it takes almost 1 hour just to place the order and the waitress just didn't seem to care or the owner for that matter. at one point a indivual went to ask for the manager or the owner who was sitting right in front of them didn't have the class to come to our table once during the horrible 3 hour time the group was there....
