We have an agent, my child booked and he loves the classes. – Let me give it to you straight. We as parents sometimes have a lot of misconceptions as per how good an actor our child is. If your child is in a couple of local plays, it may not cut it, still.
I have a child with IC Talent. We live close by, so to us it is really great to be able to take our 9 year old, every week-end. Before,I had him in a couple of plays with his school, and we had a head shot, which I was emailing to agencies. Nada. When we got to IC Talent, we found out two things: A) our son was not trained and was not going to book anything, even if he got an agent, and B) they had really great agents going there. He didn't do as well as we thought during his evaluation. We thought his stage experience would kick in and allow him to do much better, than the other kids. He got nervous on camera. We realized he needed training to be able to book work, if he ever got an agent. Before joining IC Talent, we spent a lot of money mailing head shots, for absolutely nothing. Then when we met the agents at the school --and they have all of them coming in, from CTC, to Abrams, KSR etc... We had offers, right away. My son has booked. A lot! He loves the classes, and since we couldn't find anyone to train him for free and no agents were responding, we know that we made the right decision. They are really good and local, I have no regret. Now that he turned 9 he should even get more work.
Helped my child! – No complaints here, really. My child has learned what they said he would. First, he gets in front of fifty people + on Wednesday nights at the school and performs his commercials and monologues in front of the live audience! Now my kid was not shy, let's say, like the type that you see there at IC Talent on the first day and then you never see them again after that. (Yes, they are quite selective.)
He was a little shy at first for the evaluation. Even the exercise that the owner did at the end of her presentation was tough for him. But for some reason, I saw an opening there, because they got the energy going with him. Then he started talking to Ms H. He has been going to class with Mr C and Ms D. I am not giving out everybody's first name because I asked them for permission and they said to just use first initial --with what you read people do anonymously, nobody can blame them! Now secondly, my son got signed and already booked a national car commercial. I wish he had gotten more, but I can't take him as much as other parents do. So sometimes, we have to refuse an audition. It will get better as my mother decided to step up to the plate, and she knows LA like the back of her hand. OK, that's it for now.
New to this site, very happy with the school! – It is funny to have come across these comments, as I know a lot of these parents. My fourteen year old boy is extremely funny. Everybody always says that. So needless to say that he feels right at home in class.
We are quite relaxed about this, though. He worked on a national commercial and we think it is amazing! I know that he could be one of those kids on a TV sitcom, working every week on the show. But we have not been at the school for very long. So far, so good. We have an agent and he has done work, already. We came in after my five year old niece made $50,000 on a commercial. She is very pretty. My niece is like a young Keira Knighley. My son is the life of the party at family reunions. Anyway, now both cousins are doing commercials. We were postponing bringing him because he also plays the guitar etc... But my niece's big earnings lately, renewed our interest, to say the least. My son loves the classes. They both do. They are not in the same ones, as they are not the same age. He is in it to win it, but I don't want him not to get his hopes up, too much. I tell him to take one day at a time, and I promised I would take it to all the auditions the agency sends him on. I wish to thank all the teachers, here. I hope they read this stuff, they'll know immediately who we are.
Not your rating maniac, but... I love the school! – I have three kids, so needless to say that I don't spend a lot of time on the internet, rating and commenting. But I have one child with the school and she loves the classes. She has been in class with Miss D, Mr C, Mr A and Mr Z. (I noticed that the other parents only use the first letter of the names, so I will do the same).
My child is 8 years old and has booked a national commercial. The school does not get you work and that is what the owner explained when we came in. The way it works is, on Saturdays, the owner always has two to three agents, there. More rarely, they'll have at least one. Those people are the biggest names agencies in LA.
Everything they said may happen as per the owner's opinion, took place for our child. They can't really guaranty anything, so my husband and I were a bit nervous. But the first Saturday we brought our daughter in to meet the agents, she got signed immediately and she got the commercial (Hallmark), shortly after that. The money is great. Our daughter has been on the big program from day one, and it has paid off. However, do not do this if you never want to drive to LA. They warned us about that at the school, and I don't mind driving, but if you do, then this is not for you. All the work is in LA. If your child likes to watch stuff in the car or play video games, you are okay. Thank you for reading. K
Fun for the kids, they learn how to express themselves well! – This school is very selective and the kids they accept do great.
I am writing here because my daughter has gone from having some slight issues with speech, to pronouncing everything PERFECTLY. The problem was very minimal, but it was breaking my heart to hear my extremely smart and very advanced child struggle with some consonants.
They told me right away: They LOVED her looks and personality. There was no guaranty on the speech getting better though, because they are not licensed as speech therapists. I felt that it was more than a liability issue when the owner said that: It was just a very genuine and honest way to deal with us. I felt very comfortable.
Well, it worked beyond my wildest hopes.
My daughter has also booked three commercials. Yes, you absolutely read this right. She has booked three commercials, two of which were national. So, college is all paid for ++.
She also has done fashion print work, but not all the kids can do that, as you have to look a certain way. I will bring her for as long as she'll enjoy the classes.
This is a real testimony.
My Two Children Are Working with A Great Agency – I am not a writer, I am a scientist. My husband and I are from China I have baby, 22 months old and eight year old daughter. Mu husband also is medical researcher.
My daughter is always very funny, very pretty.
When the school accepted both, I was skeptic and so was my husband. But we analyze situations before we made decisions, and looked at all pictures on wall, parents letters and job postings that children did. We also watched tapes of children and listened when parents talked about their child with school.
We decided the place is good and they tell you the truth about children. I know because one family I spoke to there, when we came in on first day, said that one one of their two children was accepted. They said it is difficult to have two accepted. But both our children got in the school!!
My daughter has worked Wal-Mart and many more.
Baby worked the baby style magazine only for now.
My husband and I are very happy. We did not think there is big market for Asian children, but there is.
The teachers are very nice, love the children and work hard with children, so there is big change in my daughter. She speaks English, was born here and Mandarin Chinese too. Thank you.
The classes are fun, teachers great and the kids love it! – This is J.
My husband and I know T and his wife, first letter A below, very well.
I have to tell you that I admire these guys! They put E. in the car and drive him to those auditions in LA, like crazy :)
If they could go every week they would. You guys are great!
As per my daughter K, the reason why she hasn't gotten work is because she finished her initial ten weeks about a month ago, and my husband was traveling for business...Sooo since I have another little one at home 3 and a half, I was waiting.
H said that our son is not ready for the school yet. we will try again.
I haven't brought K to meet the agents, just yet. But, starting this Saturday, (this week) it's the big game!!
As per my little D, I will re-apply him, they loved him but they thought he needed to work on his speech on his own before they admit him, which I totally understood.
Anyway, this is a great school and they said that it is their professional opinion that my K. will get signed by a great agent. We will know more on Saturday or next week. Usually what they say goes, I noticed from speaking to parents who have been there for years.
K loves the classes and I *love how expressive she's become*.
She is very smart and takes directions, (even before she joined the school), but now, she has become incredible. Anyway, we will be coming in for as long as she likes it.
As per making all that money, I will not accept all he auditions and all the jobs. (They don't interfere with school, though.)
Again I admire the parents who do, but I will just be a bit conservative. We are lucky enough that we are not concerned about how to pay for college. (Not that the other parents are, but I just want her to have fun and become assertive).
She has already become very confident.
Like H said when we came in --and I really liked that part:
The day your children are not having fun anymore, it is time to take them out. Sooo, K will go to class for as long as she chooses to. Thanks.
PS: I will update...
My wife convinced me and she was right. – We started with the smaller program, because I didn't think I should be paying for acting classes. I imagined that if someone is interested, they would pay for my child to study. It turned out that Eric, (my son), did okay during the exercise that they do at the end of their presentation, bu he didn't do great. He was one of the best kids, but was not really looking at the audience and lacked energy. I watched the owner turn him into a ham before my very eyes, and I forked out the course number 1, after Eric passed their evaluation, which was not obvious, by the way, but Eric made it in.
Also the woman there said that they don't charge percentages unlike the agents who come in.
They had two big agents when we were in, so I was able to see that for myself.
So I paid and after his training, my son got signed by a huge agency. My wife has taken him to LA for his auditions, quite a bit on the week end, and our son has made $25,000 on a commercial.
We just paid for more classes. I have no complaint.
My son loves it and is quite confident now. That would have made it worth it, but I sure don't mind that he is making money.
My child booked a Nissan National commercial! – She also has worked on two other commercials with the agent she got through IC Talent, but the two before were not national, which means that the money was less. There was also "Kid style magazine", and she loved the job but it wasn't a lot of money.
However this one is going to be around $125,000.
There was someone from House of Reps the other day at the school, and she said that another child from this school made $250,000 on a national, and frankly I was a bit envious, since my daughter made under 10G between the two that she obtained, prior.
I guess we must have vibed the bigger figure because YES!!!!! She went for Nissan and she got it . I am not giving her or my name on the internet, but I have to tell you that we are EXTREMELY grateful to this wonderful school! Special thanks to the head of the faculty, as he worked with my daughter on the commercial. I am amazed, completely elated. The classes are excellent and I haven't seen anybody unhappy there yet. People who do smaller program do everything they can to upgrade their kids to more classes --even if their child only made a few grand at this time, the parents sign up for more. I sit by the administration office, which is located next to the big classroom, and I see those transactions take place all he time with the head of the administration. My child is on the unlimited program.
Anybody who doesn't have nice things to say about this school, never had children there. If anyone is upset, it can only be because they cannot pay. Best investment my husband and I ever made! When they told me to do this for the education and that the work and the money the kids make is just "icing on the cake", that was the owner's words, boy, they may be right, but an income like my child is getting this year is really not just "icing" in my book, oh my God, when it comes to college, it's going to be the whole cake! Thank you and I swear that I mean everything I wrote.
An Excellent Acting School, Great Agents' Placement ++ – When I got to the school and the owner spoke about personal growth and the fact that they taught acting AND additionally, helped the children with becoming assertive and focused, I was listening but not entirely convinced. Then two parents came up and shared about their children getting all the education the IC Talent owner was mentioning they offered, plus, their kids actually got employment with the agents who come in. Finally, they did an exercise with the children who were applying that day, and I saw my daughter Isabella "transform" before my very eyes. She went from really laid back to talkative and was able to speak in front of about sixty people! I could not believe my eyes and -- since she passed the evaluations, I got her in on two classes a week for ten weeks. I also signed my one year old to their photo shoot course and he got signed two days after his contact sheets came in. My daughter is now upgraded to the bigger program and we have been there for two years. Jason is now four and will be taking the classroom acting classes as well. (He got a print job with Baby Style magazine.) Isabella booked a few national commercials. We are still hoping for series regular and are going on theatrical auditions. Bella has over $100,000 stashed in the bank. I couldn't believe when I saw negative comments about my children's school on this! Then I realized that they had been written by people who never had their children participate in anything. The kids were either, not accepted, or the parents were not able to pay or not willing to invest on their kids. Or, the postings were made by the school's competition. My question is, how would these people speak about "a trap" when they never used any services there?
Also, google ripoffreport and Ed Magedson. We did when we saw crazy stuff about the school, that is so insane, that we knew it had been done by someone trying to hurt the school and its owner. I asked the head of the administration who did this to them at the time, and she said that a competitive place located in OC saw no other way to compete with this school as they get agents' visits. Then she said the site it was done on, is an extortion site and they ask for a lot of money to modify the defamation.
There is a lot of lies going on on the net, and ,my husband and I saw the out of this world defamation, but went and checked things out on our own. We own a business, so we understand about spiteful, non-functioning competition and disgruntled employees. I am just appalled that parents would come in, not do business with the place and go crazy on the internet. We do not believe everything on the net, clearly because nobody who owns a business does!
I am more inclined to read a comment from a family who actually did business with a place and experienced the results, then someone who obviously comes out of spite or resents their being turned down, or cannot pay.
BTY, they explained that they cannot accept percentages by law and as a school they have to charge for the classes instead. They also own a production company called ICA.
We are very happy and go to IC Talent on Sundays. I do not write comments, I do not do this type of things, but I had to step up.
I will probably be there this Sunday, sitting by the bigger classroom, and my name is Deborah.
Wishing the best to all, but especially, good, honest and genuine people :)
