@$%! CUSTOMER BEWARE*%%%%%
On November 13th 2012 my girlfriend and I ate here and I became VIOLENTLY ILL!!!! We ordered the house special Ramen which comes with slices of pork meat on top of the soup. After eating some of pork I noticed IT WAS DISCOLORED, UNDER-COOKED AND TOUGH. Right away I pulled the SPOILED meat out of the bowl and had my girlfriend look at it. She was shocked to see that this TAINTED MEAT was served to us. I immediately called the waitress over and she was very apologetic and asked if we wanted another bowl. At that point my appetite was gone and didn't think anything of it. WELL THE WORST WAS YET TO COME!
Nearly 6 hours later I was in EXCRUCIATING pain, felt like my insides were being ripped apart, followed by SEVERE DIARRHEA, cramping, CHILLS, FEVER and NON STOP VOMITING. After throwing up 9 times, YES 9 times I couldn't even KEEP water down it was time to run to HOAG HOSPITAL Emergency ROOM. I was admitted right away as I was in obvious discomfort. I was put on a IV right away and it took 3 doses of two different anti nausea medication to calm me down and I went through 4 bags to get re hydrated! The doctor ran blood and urine test and found that I was not sick with any flu virus to rule that out and came to the conclusion I HAD FOOD POISONING. I even have a signed letter from the very doctor who treated me I had food poisoning. I spent nearly 8 hours in the ER until they released me. I didn't start feeling better for nearly an entire WEEK. I called KOHRYU 3 days after my visit to bring what happened to me to their attention. The proprietor of the restaurant AYUMI called me back and was very apologetic and would take care of the matter and asked I send over all the bills and information I had. I was then contacted by her insurance representative JEff COWAN @ TCMS who was very professional at first but later saw his true colors as we all know what insurance companies jobs are! My bill was over $2,000!!! I have insurance and my co-payment for the incident was only $205. To sum this all up, their insurance company denied my claim, said there was no link to me getting sick with their food and since I did not have the actual piece of meat tested to prove it I had NO CLAIM.
Since being denied I called AYUMI and needless to say she played COY with me on the phone and was severely rude and no longer was "SUCH A NICE PERSON" I gave them several chances to make their mistake right and they still have not reached out to me or apologized. I mean its only $205 dollars isnt it worth to pay that on behalf of your restaurants mistake? NOw they are forever going to have this review on all major review sites to let the world know what they did, how they conducted themselves and who they really are. I DONT NOT RECOMMEND this place, if they treated me like this when they make mistakes imagine what they do when they don't get CAUGHT??????? I am also uploading a picture of the letter the doctor at Hoag hospital wrote and signed to add legitimacy and proof to my ordeal. Below is a link to the photo of the Dr's letter signed and also refer to the photo section for Kohryu resturant to see it.

Shame on your KOHRYU for serving TAINTED MEAT to your customers!!!!! The very least was to make this right and you didn't even do that. I wrote this to warn others to NOT EAT HERE its not worth getting sick and going through what I did, I know people will see this and your business will suffer and will cost you more than the $205 you should have paid to satisfy your mistake, how stupid.... KARMA WILL GET YOU!
Best ramen around!. Very good ramen dishes. They are good for ramen dishes, so the other stuff on the menu is just average. My favorite is their miso ramens. The service is good too. Only con is the restaurant is small so there is a wait and often crowded due to the popularity of this great tasting ramen restaurant.
solid ramen spot. since moving here from NY, i've been to this place half a dozen times already. years ago my asian friend took me to the best ramen spot i've ever had. since then i've been on the constant search for something close... even though this place isn't exact as good as my all time favorite spot in NY (called MINCA) its pretty darn good. i like the koi ramen with corn and gyoza starter and a side of rice to share with my wife... the noodles are nice and al dente too and the broth is rich and slightly buttery... yumm.... solid selection of ramen all across the board... good job guys!
