Great Lunch Spot!.
I went to Saagar for lunch, with friends from work. They have a great buffet and it's a great value. I love Indian food, and this was very authentic Indian food. I love the smell of all the spices from the food. The service is great and the food is delish!

AVERAGE INDIAN FOOD; INDIFFERENT SERVICE; PRICES ON HIGH SID.
I went for dinner on a monday night about six pm and was there for about an hour. during the entire time, i was the only guest in the entire restaurant. that fact alone should tell you everything you need to know. there are plenty of other better indian restaurants in this area. only reason to go here is if you really want indian food and have no way to get to another indian restaurant

Wonderful Food!.
We were very impressed! Excellent Paneer Pakaoras and the Naans were fresh, crunchy and soft.
The condiments were very tasty too - fresh chutney!
It was cosy without being cramped.
Next time we are in Irvine we'll try and pop by again.
Highly recommended.

Great Indian Restaurant. Much better than expected!!.
I tried Saagar for the first time. Normally I drive far to Long Beach on 2nd st. for indian food. This place has nice table cloth's and nice booths. The atmosphere when I arrived at 9:30 at night there was some children which I believe were related to the owners or employees that were loud and annoying. (giggling and playing music on their phones) My first impression was very unprofessional.. Shortly they left when someone from the kitchen told them to get going.. The waiter however was very nice and polite and did a great job. He did not suggest anything which is a con however I am a somewhat experienced indian diner and ordered the Bhaji onion apprtizer (did not come with sauce but had good flavor) I then asked for yogurt sauce and mixed it with the green "salsa" on table These together are excellent with the fried onion bhaji. Next I ordered the garlic naan and the naan with cherries and nuts. Both very good fluffy bread nice flavors. The garlic was more enjoyable than the cherry but both great. I ordered the Chicken Saag which was the best I have had yet. PERFECTLY executed. The portion of chicken was a little less than I normally get. But the flavors were perfect. The I got the Chicken Tikka Masala which was not as sweet flavored as I am used to had more of a savory taste. Nice balance of ginger. I prefer the sweeter style but it was very good overall. The meal was server with rice and perhaps it comes with yogurt?? I'm not sure if it automatically comes with yogurt because I ordered it (no charge) with my appetizer. Also the waiter served the entrees table side. A nice touch. Waters were refilled promptly never went empty. Also I had the Mango Lassi which was great and slightly more sugar and sweetness than I normally have tasted. I would order the mango lassi again. Overall the best indian I have had in O.C. It hits on par with the best indian food I ever had just small differences.. i.e. on place better sweet naan but here better saag. GREAT CHOICE GO HERE
