glad i went back. the first time i came here i waited three times longer than i was told i would have to, and then didn't particularly enjoy the famous "pink sauce"... luckily i went back and my second trip was much better. if you're not into rich sauces, order off the "lite ones" menu; every one i've tried has been great.

Over-the-top friendly service and tasty food!. I always smelled the aroma of italian food when driving by this place on my way to the beach. I finally took my fiance' there on a date and was warmly greeted at the door. Since it was our first time there, they told us about the menu and gave us a free sample of their ravioli! The dinner was great and the service was top-notch. They really make an effort to provide excellent service. Just go and find out what I am writing about!

Exceeded Our Expectations - All that and a bag of chips. When planning a special evening for my wife and our anniversary, I knew going to the beach would be special. I googled restaurants and Mama D's Italian was on the list. I normally don't give a lot of weight to reviews, but I read each of the reviews and I was convinced this was the place. As I read in the reviews the staff was beyond friendly and gracious. When I mentioned to the waiter, Dave that we had traveled an hour and a half, the manager (Luke) came over and greeted us and offered a free appetizer off the menu (stuffed mushrooms). We were told we could alter any of the menu items (sauces, noodles, meat, etc.) to meet our needs. My wife wanted 2 different chicken dishes, so they divided them up and MADE IT WORK. They were every thing that the reviews indicated and made it a very special evening for my wife and I. We will go back. Thanks Dave and Luke. You made it special. Paul & Laura

Real Nutcase Running the Place!. We brought our own wine in. The waitress mistakenly charged us for it. When we called her attention to the error, she informed the owner. He came over to our table three times, and each time the ranting and foul language escalated. He told us to get the f@#% out or he would call the police. He told me he didn't give a f@#% if I didn't come back; I was nobody. When we finally managed to pay our bill and get out, he followed us outside and taunted Michael to fight with him. Unbelievable! Enter at your own risk!

You'll Love Mama D's. My fiance and I love going to Mam D's. I used to live on the peninsula for nearly 3 years and unfortunately I didn't start going to this restaurant until the last few months I was there. Now I live in Orange and I go there more often than when I lived a mile from the place. They have great food and very reasonable prices. They also have my favorite wine, Red Diamond. It seems to be a family operated business, but I could be wrong about that. When you get to the restaurant you are warmly greeted by the staff and offered their delicious table bread. From the time you walk in the place, until the time you leave, the staff makes you feel like you are a celebrity. Whether you're with family, friends, on a date, or even just want to stop in on your own, you can't go wrong with Mama D's.

Delicious Italian Food!. Based on the reviews I read my husband and I decided to give Mama D's a try. So glad we did! The owner greeted us personally and gifted us with a free Ravioli sample! Yummo! He also bought us 2 glasses of wine since we had to wait more than 5 minutes for a table! It was the best we have ever been treated on a first visit before. Usually you get this kind of service when you become a regular.

The food is fresh and excellent. Our waiter Ruben recommended the Chicken David and it was outstanding and enough for us to share. This is no chain Italian joint. This is the real deal! Come here if you want the best service and the best food! You will have a great time!

Great Find!. This place is simply the best. You can have an outstanding meal for two for about $30 (without drinks) compared to anywhere else in Newport for much more. In addition to the delicious bread, on the house ravioli, and huge portions of delicious pasta the restaurant employees go out of their ways to make sure you are happy and have a wonderful time. Everyone is extremely friendly and attentive. They will ask you at least three times if everything is okay and if there is anything at all they can do to make it better. The owner will come out and chat with you and your server will most likely floor you with kindness. (Tatiana is the best!) Our server even wrote what pastas we had on our take-out containers with a date and smiley face. She asked our names and it felt like we made a friend by the time we left. We will definitely be going back. We found our new little Italian place :) A dinner this good deserves a review. Go there for yourself, you'll love it.

Amazing Service. We walked in here on a whim one night and were treated to such a great surprise! We were seated by the friendliest man, who I can only assume is one of the owners. Drinks came out fast, along with the most delicious bread ever. It had all these little garlic-herby crumbles all over it and they had to keep bringing it out over and over again as we scarfed it down. Then they brought out a huge ravioli for us to try (on the house!) It was great! We also got a wonderful cup of minestrone, the first minestrone I have ever actually enjoyed. The only bad part is that we didn't have enough room for dinner (pasta) which was otherwise equally excellent and huge! I'd recommend ordering one plate for every two people. Plus, everyone in there was so nice and awesome, I'd go back just for the service. They also have a fireplace seating area with couches and tables so you can eat in extra comfort!

Great food and afordable!. This place has great food and its affordable. The waiters always ask your name and try to make you feel special every time you go in. Great customer service! The best thing about this place is they don't treat you like they are doing you a favor serving you dinner (like a lot of Italian places in Newport!) You will even get a coupon for your next visit!

Excellent all around. Seated quickly, Excellent Service, Great Food and Great Ambiance!!! We sat by the fireplace and it was perfect. I would recommend it to EVERYONE!!!! A great experience.
