This beach sits on a historic man-made island off the Newport Beach coast. It's either a short ferry ride or car ride (over Balboa Island Bridge) away, which means it's much less crowded than area mainland beaches. Crisp, clear waves, bike paths, volleyball nets, picnic tables and barbecue grills draw tourists and locals alike. The island's downtown shops and restaurants round out the area's offerings, making the island a vacation destination.
