What People Are Saying About Sutra Lounge

Featured Review

Contributor

In Short – A massive Buddha presides over 10,000 square feet of candlelit gold, ebony and crimson dining spaces, VIP nooks and a Moroccan-style patio. State-of-the-art lighting and sound systems, and top DJs spinning eclectic music, ensure heavy traffic on the dance floor. Three bars offer premium beverages, flavored martinis and custom cocktails but they do not outshine French chef Stephane Beaucamp's eclectic grazing menu (lobster scallion shooters, shrimp lollipops, black chocolate goddess cake), meant for sharing.

As awful as everyone says it is. Stay away.

This place really gets zero stars. But citysearch forces me to put one here.

So I always heard that the place was pretentious, the staff was aloof and rude, and that the people were fake. Yet I still managed to get dragged here one night. From the very first moment it was downhill. First of all they only honored the guest list for the girls, not me (a guy). I realize some clubs embrace this blatant sexism, despite its absurdity. And for the rest of the night, the staff literally treated me like a second class citizen. I have never been treated so poorly by club staff. My girlfriend was allowed to go anywhere in the club, whereas when I was walking with her a guy in a suit would literally jump out in front of me in certain areas and say I could not go any further there, or any further here. Only she was allowed too. WOW. I did not have any desire to buy a single drink here, even to numb the pain of the experience. And yet I had more alcoholic drinks spilled on me then in any previous club experience, because the people here cannot dance. Oh, "Hate" doesn't even describe my emotions.

Can't stand this place

by Deeana at Citysearch

Where do i begin? First sutra is way to crowded for the space and the bathroom set up sucks it you are waiting in huge lines the entire night. Everthing is way over priced drinks, food, and even entry 20 bucks c'mon. The people for the most part are super fake and a fight brakes out just about everytime i drag myself to coming to this place. IMO stay away

Good music, Bad Vibe

by oceyecandy at Citysearch

Despite hearing rumors that the people at Sutra are not nice, I decided to put us on the guest list anyway because we were having dinner nearby. ~

Wow, I learned quickly that the rumors were true! We were about 5 min late for the guest list - our group consisted of 6 girls and 1 guy. They told us they would not honor the guest list but, after much negotiation, would let the girls in for half. After again showing him my group of hot chicks and only ONE guy and asking him to please honor the list, we weren't that late he said he "didn't need the business". Those were his words! Was this door manager off his rocker? Not even in Vegas with our size group and girl to guy ratio, would the girls ever pay. We turned around to leave since we had other choices that night. ~

We were stopped shortly by two guys coming in with a table who overheard the whole thing and told him to let us all in under their table because it was ridiculous for them to try to make us pay. The door hesitated but let us in anyway.~

The place wasn't very crowded inside, the gogo dancers were cute, and the music sounded great on their sound system. That's about all that was good about the club. ~

They have expressionless security persons about every 20 feet around the venue creating a negative vibe and making you feel unwelcome. Every 20 feet is not an exaggeration. I'm not sure why so much security is needed in there. The dance floor is small surrounded by a mass amount of real estate devoted to tables. We left after about 15 minutes.~

Bottom line, from the door to the inside, Sutra are jerks to the end - unless you have a table (I'm assuming). I am an avid club goer that goes in (depending on the venue) with the promoter, VIP, bottle service, or simply on the guest list. A club should make all patrons feel thankful that you choose them for the evening no matter how you got in - guest list or VIP. I will never support this venue in any way shape or form.~

The rumors are true people.
